I'd like to connect my CLS (W219) up to my CTEK Charger.

I can't seem to find any information about the process?

Does the car have any charging points under the bonnet, rather than having to charge via the trunk?

The charger has settings around AGM, would this be the type used in the CLS?

Thanks in advance,
James.

Has to connect directly to the battery in the boot (trunk) and set it on normal mode (1 light under the car picture).

That is what I do to my W211, so it should be the similar.

The wires from the conditioner to the battery on my conditioner are so fine I can close the boot lid over them and the boot lid seal is thick and soft enough that the lid will close without damaging the wires. Hence the car is fully locked and alarmed even though the conditioner is attached! Been doing that for ages.

As above, connect directly to the battery positive terminal and the bolt that mounts the battery condition module (BCM), this is how one is instructed by WIS. Apparently the BCM needs to know the battery is being charged. No idea why or how it does this but had mine connected this way for 3yrs without issue.
I had a convenience connection from Ctek that was permanently connected as above and as and when required I simply plugged the charger into the Convenience socket in the boot. The Ctek sat in the boot and the mains cable trailed out through the boot lid seal to a water proof 13amp socket.

I extended the short cable that came in the box and it's connected directly to the battery terminals, coils up and sits in the cubby holes on the left under the boot floor when not in use. I then shut the boot lid on that and connect externally to the charger wall mounted in the garage.

As you have the better one, it's well worth giving it a run on recond first, made my battery hold charge like new and I do it once a year, as per the ctek instructions, as the cold weather comes on.

I have an experience about this. I have not CTEK but 4A DEFA charger, installed directly to battery poles. One time I was playing with star diagnostic I put charger on when I was controlling very current consuming devices. After that I tried start the car to check some parameters in engine ECU. No start, just auto cranking sequence. Two more attempts, no avail. Then I disconnected charger AC plug and turned the key; car started immediately. Somehow charger fooled system and it refused to start. I have no idea why, no fault codes triggered, but it couldn't be coincidence when starting was ok after charger not operational. I didn't change charger wire though, I use DEFA only overnights when we have several days under -10C.

He should get a perfectly good one in the box with it.

You're right. I was trying to think what I bought extra and it was the extension lead

If permanently wiring, you should put a fuse near battery between battery and ctek wiring to protect that wiring. I think I decided the wiring could take 10Amps and put a 10Amp fuse (poss 15, I can't remember)

I have this on my SL, so the flying lead that is then in the boot waiting for me to plug the CTEK in can not melt if for some reason it gets damaged by some part of the bodywork.

The CTEK convenience connectors come with a safety fuse

Comfort Indicator Panel M8 1,5m

I got this hooked up to my battery permanently (Figured out the lowing module is causing my slow drain, only downside of this method of lowering).

I cut a square hole in the outer boot tray to fit this panel so that I do not need to muck around with opening the boot, worrying about the boot lid squashing the wiring etc...

There's plenty of 'give' in the boot seal not to worry about the cable. I'd be more concerned about water ingress or damage to that panel, the cover on mine was always falling off..

I know what you mean, it has been alright so far. If any issues I will shift it internally, thanks for the comments on the boot seal.

Got the battery protection display tonight for the first time ! I just recon' my battery a few weeks ago using Ctek

"They all do that sir".....

What sort of journeys have you been doing, how old is the battery?

I have charged my battery using the CTEK charger connected to the positive negative posts under the bonnet, checked this out on the ctek site and it okays this connection.
