CLS W219 hands free mic or air temp sensor?

Cabin air temp sensor.

There's a small fan behind to draw air over the sensor. Quite often blocked with fluff!

I figured it might be - nothing in the handbook identifying it but it was shown (unidentified) on the dash layout pages.
