The requirement is to have km and mi available to the driver when he wants them you don't need to have both displayed at the same time.
It's a simple enough change when you know how but you will struggle to find a dealer who will do it because its not really something they do often and likely wont have a clue what your on about.
With my (smaller than standard) steering wheel at the most comfortable height, I can't see all of the speedo without ducking my head.
Can the digital readout which displays KMH be changed to MPH ?
And is this a Star job.
Hi,
I believe you can disable it by disconnecting or pulling a fuse BUT it will disable BAS and the ABS as well as the ESP, I certainly would,nt want to be doing a track day in a E55 without BAS.
I've not had anything cause the BAS to kick in yet (thankfully).
I've been through a few handling (and other) courses about 5-6 years ago and a section covered in one course was ABS and how it is actually possible to stop more quickly without it.
I was more after turning off (completely) the traction control systems so that it would slide as I wanted it to. I understand that the other systems are affected but that's fine, the whole thing becomes more of a manual 'seat of the pants' thing than instead of letting the car look after you.
I've had people say that they know how to do it but I don't have the instructions yet.
I'm sure it was Martin Brundle who said driving an F1 car fast is about controlling how much the tyres are sliding to little and you will be to slow, to much you will be even slower
Do you have a black box behind your washer bottle? I think you will find it controls the ESP remove it and no ESP, you might want to check how it affects ABS though. I switch mine off in my W211 and I can launch almost 0.2 secs faster to 60 without ESP, mine also switches of ABS and BAS. I cannot stop faster without it not that it's not possible but there is no feel so difficult to know what the front wheels are doing before its to late.
