Cobra To Slk

So please explain what comand is thanks.:dk:
COMAND is the double-din radio/cd/nav unit fitted to many MB models. If you were to fit COMAND to your 170 SLK then you'd get much respect from me as it would require at the very least that you take a saw to several pieces of your dashboard! :)

I have a pic somewhere of a Brabus modified 170 SLK with COMAND and it looked very slick :) .

Oh right, a gadget then. I wont be to worried about one of those sounds expensive.
I was just going to get a few shiny bits, handbrake cover, maybe starter button, chrome roll bars etc.
Already got 4 new genuine Brabus wheel centres from Ebay, £10+pp result!!

The only thing i can contribute towards in this thread is:

I've been in an SLK55 and honestly, it felt like the fastest mercedes i have ever sat in (and i've been in the sl55/e63!). It just feels so powerful at any moment in time... definately worth a thought, it might be outside of your price range though!

:confused: Err right, don't know if you have read the rest of this, but i have just purchased the red slk.

Well finally got my SLK, nothing like i was looking for but when i saw this one i had to have it.
Not sure how to post photos, but its Magma red with Brabus body kit and superb Brabus wheels, plain black interior at the moment but i intend to "Bling" it up in the future :thumb:

Congrats, nice car hope you enjoy your ownership as much as I do mine.

For the record I blatted down to southern Spain, oh three or four years ago now, with my better half for 10 days. This we did with all the travel regalia that girlies require, and more importantly, with the roof down! And no luggage rack. Absolutely astonishing what can be fitted into the car. That said the 32AMG doesn't carry a spare wheel, just a can of puncture repair foam to get you out of a hole, but this obviously means there is more space for the 10 pairs of shoes, 10 bikini’s evening wear etc etc...

Anyway good luck and W2TC! :)

Congrats on the purchase.

It certainly looks different from the SLK's i've seen but i think it looks great.

Anyway enjoy your new car.

Do you seriously believe folks read these posts :)

I am soooo pleased to see that you dared to buy a Merecedes-Benz that is not silver, or black :o:o

Well done and I look forward to seeing what bits you decide to stick onto that nice looking car.

Talking of "other colours"............
I saw a brand new BROWN W204 the other day................and it looked truly fabulous.
So there is life beyond silver and black it seems.

Thanks, i was originally looking for a black one, but the majority do seem to be silver. The odd "colored" one showing up now and then.
A red one overtook me on the road and my partner said how nice it looked so when this one came up already body kitted and shod (which i was intending to do anyway) i just had to have it.

I like them.
I think they would look good in your car.
The only thing I would do is change the amber indicator bulbs for the pair of clear-look silvered indicator bulbs (according to the details they do actually supply a pair of these with the headlamp units).
These bulbs look clear and therefore you don't get the amber colour reflections through the lens glass - as the main picture shows. But when lit and working, still have the amber colour necessary.
That would improve their look even more.

I see they sell some that would fit my W203.......................very tempting..........VERY......
Although I think the chrome ones would suit my car more than the black look...........

Just noticed, they also do chrome ones for the SLK, MERCEDES SLK R170 CHROME ANGEL EYE HEADLIGHTS E MARKED on eBay (end time 26-Aug-09 20:00:00 BST)
I think these would look the part, i wasnt to sure about the black ones.
My nearside headlight has got moisture inside so good excuse to change..................

I agree.
Those chrome ones would look better against the red paintwork on your car..
I suppose if you had a black car, those black ones would look better then.
Maybe.

Noticed today, the standard headlights are not glass but plastic!
Anyway just ordered silver lights so will be able to see the quality soon.
Maybe do a HOW TO remove and fit.

I'm not usually a fan of most of the aftermarket light kits - but those do look good. Don't forget to post some photo's when they are on.

P.S. Congrats on the purchase - looks nice.

Hello

Nice car, my dad had one new back in 1998 and kept it for 7 years as his weekend car. Great car a 230K Auto. Needed nothing but servicing and tyres in that time.

I would be tempted to get the chrome covers for the roll hoops. imho they look great. I had a Z3 and changed the complete roll over bars for chrome ones. Looked great :)

Have looked at the chrome roll hoops but £400 ish! may have to wait a bit.
Won a CLK grill on EBAY, just hope it fits!

Pheew !!

Got home today to find grill shaped parcel, made cuppa and into garage i went (just to offer it up) 4 hrs later (And much sweating and swearing) it was in "YAY".
Had to take hacksaw to the bumper !! but apart from that trauma it went OK.
Took photos so may do "How to" if there`s enough demand.:bannana:
