I finally got around to documenting (some) of the functionality of the hidden service menu on COMAND 2.0, and what some of the values in it mean..

See http://www.mercupgrades.com

I also added a list of the part numbers for manuals for COMAND, and made the COMAND-APS part number document readable on IE6

Hope this is useful to someone :-)

Cheers

Hi Richard,
Brilliant post as usual, thanks.
I have been reluctant to "fiddle" and get into this service menu as I didn't see any instructions on how to get back out! Probably being too cautious but could you confirm how to get back to normal screens?
Thanks/Barry

You just hit RET (a few times if youve gone into the menus)

Cheers

Help ! I have a C Class (2000) with the Command Travel Pilot DX but I am experiencing problems. Since receiving the new TeleAtlas CD last year (Could be a coincidence) I constantly have had an error “CD Reading Error Please Use another CD” I am not sure if the system has become corrupt and just (!!ha) needs resetting or if there is a problem with the unit. It is an intermittent problem Take the CD out enough times and eventually it will work, very ocassionally I also get a Audio CD reading problem from the CD player –again “not recognised” – but eject the case and it starts working again.
Has anyone come across something similar? Is there a rest functionality to reset the firmware? Or could it be the optical laser reader that has fluff on it and if so how do I clean it – any thoughts greatly appreciated. Cheers Will

Try a CD cleaning disk. It has little cleaning brushes on it

They are quite prone to getting dirt from your hands into COMAND - normally first sign of this is inability to eject the disk properly ..

Richard, brilliant website many thanks. I went to Holland and Steve installed the Comand into my C43 and a few other things, highly reccomended.

great writeup, I didnt see anything about video in motion though. :)

Theres a hint in there (in the configuration menu) ...

I wrote a program called 'freediag' (its on freediag.sourceforge.net, for Linux), which along with an interface allows you to plug into the OBD-II port and act as a scantool (read engine fault codes) - and I worked out how to change/alter values on COMAND and change everything, including TV in motion. I was going to publish it, but got worried about the legal liability issues - and wasn't going to spend cash on lawyers fees - rather spend it on adding other stuff to car and writing that up ...

So, its stuck on the back burner for a while. I sent some of it to Peter Leubner (sp?) who published some of it, and worked out more of the TV in motion stuff.

Maybee I should publish it without the TV in motion stuff shown, and then others can infer what the settings are .. with a big big disclaimer on it ..

I was told you dont need to plug anything into the port to access those features as it was just in one fo those hidden menus.

Does anyone on here know the magic number sequence?

Hello Guys,
I have added to my system a BOSE amp and BOSE speakers.
But When I go to the system configuration the the box is untick.
How can I add that feature to the system so it sees the amp?

Thanks!
