COMAND Navigation problem

Here's a new one on me.

I have COMAND on and listening to MP3s. All is good. Then I want the satnav, so I press NAV and get the screen which says "Navigation activated... Please wait".

So I wait. And wait. And give up. And drive home anyway. And encounter traffic problems I could have avoided if I had any on-screen map and navigation equipment on board to help me out.

1.5 hours later I'm still looking at "Navigation activated... Please wait."

What the hell is going on? Ans where should I start looking for problems?

Any advice warmly received!

(As an aside, this is yet another problem with the car, to add to the toilet roll-length list of other little things which don't work properly or are starting to really annoy me. Premium brand? Yeah right! )

Remove the COMAND fuse at the fusebox and re-insert?

Do you have a Comand NTG2.5 retrofit or the Comand NTG1 which would have come in your year car?
