Hello Gurus,

I have recently bought a Comand system from ebay and found a few problems with, the guy I bought it from said I could return it and he would give my money back, but I'd like to get it fixed and get it inot my car. Firstly i couldnt recieve any satellites and evrything else seemed to work, now i keep on getting navigation read errors and it wont eject the CD. Also when I go into the diagnostic mode on the info screen the direction tab i..e forward and reverse doesnt seem to work either, sometimes the unit switches on sometimes it doesnt it this all related to one fault or is this unit completly knacked. If someone could help it would help two people. ALso does anyone know of anyone in the UK who can repair this I have tried my local MB dealers and they only send warranty units back

Thanks

a few things i thought of:

(1) what car is this going into?
(2) what model of coamnd is it
(3) i assume you have wired up a GPS aerial to it?
(4) to get the reverse signal u need to wire this up to the gearbox switch
(5) sounds like the eject mechanism may be faulty?
(6) have you wired it up via a canbus adaptor or direct to the instrument cluster?
(7) is the map disc a copy or original as that can cause reading probs

thanks

Thanks

Derek,

Thanks for your suggestions, in response to some of the things you thought of:

1. Its been fitted into a W203 2003 model C Class
2. Its the A203 8 something or other, its the one that requires the can bus
3. Yup, at one stage got 7 satellites for a few days
4. Reverse and forwards are sent to the unit via can bus, the only reason I know this is because I was running the info diagnostic screen when the unit was functionning
5. I get a navigation error when the unit is 1st switched on and also when I press the cd button on the unit its tells me thats its scanning
6. Connected via the canbus connector
7. original 2003 teleatlas disk which was running ok for a couple of days

Note I have taken the disk out manually by turning the eject mechanism motor and without a cd the unit still seems to think that a cd is present

Hope this helps

Thanks for responding

sounds like a faulty CD unit . I'd return it asap for a refund or a replacement unit.

I heard they can be repaired in Uk but for around £500. frankly its not worth the bother if your seller has offered to assist you .
