Can anyone tell me why large numbers of Comand units are advertised on e-bay from Lithuania? Obviously my initial thoughts are that they are from a bunch of scammers!
I can't tell you why or how they are getting these units but they have been selling for quite a while to my knowledge. If they were scammers I think they would have been booted of Ebay by now.
Have you seen these dynavin

Not scammers. they do have the units and do supply.
However, we have seen a number of units brought to us from various ebay sources that are damaged, theft protect locked, dont work or clearly have been 'forced' out of a car. You have to make your own mind up about this.
I did see the Lithuanian eBay ads before upgrading to COMAND, and the problem for me was that they were actually reasonably priced for second hand units, but personally I would only risk buying such a unit if it was ridiculously cheap, for the reasons mentioned by Alfie.
I decided to take the Alfie route and I am glad to say that as expected my new COMAND came in a rather large and very original MB box. Needless to say it hasn't missed a bit since.
I struggle to understand why so many people are after Command units insted buying something aftermarket with better options and quality?? BTW I just sold mine to swap for Pioneer AVH unit.
You had the old Comand 2.0 which is in no way anywhere near as good as the latest units like the Comand NTG2.5 and there are benefits to having the OEM unit rather than an aftermarket.
In the past, I have successfully bought a monitor from Lithuania for my BMW - perfectly happy with the unit and wouldn't be concerned with buying another from overseas.
