I'm replacing my Audio 5 by a Comand APS + CD Changer on my A-Class W169.

I've already removed the Audio 5 and checked the connections.

I found on Richard's site (www.mercupgrades.com ) that I need a Wiring Loom DIN connector -> Multi-way connector (A203 540 83 08)
However, there are many more connections on the Comand connector than on the Audio 5 (only 13 connections on it).

If I use the adapter, does it mean these 13 connections will be enough or do I need to connect some more wires (if yes, which ones and where) ?

I have the connection pinout for the audio 5 , but not for the Comand. Where can I find it ?

I also noticed I need an adapter for the FM antenna ("Old style connector" to Fakra connector).

Hi
The adapter connects to the existing DIN A/B wiring, and to the back of the comand. It also needs to be plugged into the CANBUS adapter in one of the footwells

The adapter includes the converter between fakra and the old type FM antenna.

The only issue you may have is that if you have a certain set of options there may be no spare connections on the CANbus fan-out connector - if thats the case theres a part you buy that is a 2nd fan out connector with a short jumper link, and you use that to extend the fan-out connector. I suspect its highly unlikely that you have that exact set of options.
Theres a magic way to release the canbus fan-out to plug in the new connection.

Cheers

Richard

[EDIT, ps dont forget you will need a little bit of plastic dash trim as you need to remove the blank din slot cubby hole and move the controls down so it looks like the results in the picture in my document - PM me if you run into trouble]

Richard,
please can you explain better where I can find the canbus connector?
thankyou in advance

Hi Richard,

I notice that the CANBUS wires COULD have been installed into the ISO connector that matches the body harness. But for signal quality they decided to bypass the ISO connectors.

What I end up doing is cutting the CANBUS away from the original ISO connector which once went to the AUDIO 5 and mating that with the loose CAN connector now supplied in the adaptor.

Thus I end up using a male connector and two crimp pins on the end of the cut CANBUS wires to the old radio harness and mate that with the loose connector supplied with the adaptor harness.

Some people may choose to solder or join some other way. I use the OEM pins and gender which mates to the new adaptor.
