Command firmware update - NTG1

My sclass has the comand ntg 1 and the rear tv pack also. My car came with 2004 disc but my dad gave me a copy of a disc called V12. Don't know if that indicates 2012 but the mapping is very recent.

When I put the v12 disc in it installed new software. I bought a Connects2 video in motion module today that connects to the audio gateway in the boot. Installation took minutes but my comand now doesn't work. I have contacted connects2 and even their tech help were baffled.

Just wondered if anyone could shed any light on this as I'm current £130 down and Ive got no radio :( many thanks

v14 has just come out, yours will be the one released in 2011. Biggest difference between 12 and 13, apart from map updates obviously, is they added tons more POIs and given the poor postcode support I use this a lot and find it very useful.

Re the VIM, have you got a pic of yours installed you could share? I found an small box in the tray behind the back seat next to the phone boxes which is obviously third party and has wires trailing over to the AGW and to power but no markings on the box itself to identify it.

I did some research before parting with my cash and I was told VIM couldn't be activated using stars on later models. This only applied to earlier models.

It's been said before by those that know that you can on this version but they won't do it as Diesel Benz said.

You used to be able to do it directly on the headunit but the function was removed, or just better hidden, in the late 2006 update that you need to use newer map discs.

I will take a picture for you later today as that means pulling my boot carpet back out. The unit is about and inch by four by three and has a harness in it and a row of dip switches

I know a local specialist (won't name names as it would seem that to some people wanting my reversing camera to work puts me in the same league as rapists and murders) who has stars and they would have bed quite happy to do it for £50 but they say it's not possible on this unit

Just a quick question.... sorry for going off topic. Can I update my command using the SAT NAV dvd player in the boot? Seeing as the dvd player in dash unit doesn't read discs anymore :(

I put my v12 disc in the boot and it automatically installed the latest software

I have a NTG 2.0 anyone have an update disk for this they no longer need. I am willing to purchase it from you.

They're are '10 a penny' on eBay. The sat nav is still woeful compared to my ranger rover or even my ford focus but at least your mapping will be up to date

Not sure what ebay you are looking at, but I can only see them for around £40 pounds :dk:

Thanking you, sounds similar.

Perhaps they feel clever by saying they could but they won't because they reckon you'll never find out the can't :)

The legit reason I was thinking was so you could mirror TomTom or similar from your phone onto the screen.

No worries, that'll do fine thanks and what I have isn't one of them then.

It's a similar size but mine has more convincing cables and connectors that come out of the short ends, ones with securing screws each side like old RS232 and VGA cables used to be. I'll take a pic when I can manage the hernia getting to the back of the boot.

The supplier asked me to try a different box with newer software on today and it still hasn't worked think I'm gonna give this up as a bad job!

New box not working either!!! Could any experts definitely tell me if video in motion can be activated by STARs. I have 2004 NTG 1 with version 12 disc and software. Many thanks

Hello! My name is Dan, I am from Romania and please help me with a small or big problem :). I have a 2003 W211 200kompressor ntg1 navi ... and a few months ago I did an update to 30/06 ... and the classic problem: motion video and mp3.
Pretty please help me if you can! Thank you.
