Complete Electric Aerial

Not anymore, looks like ebay pulled the listing.

I have bought from this seller and he is very reliable. Bid with confidence and he accepts offers too. No its not me :)

Thanks High-Lo, useful as I was thinking of bidding on the other auction for the wiper mechanism. Ours is a bit knackered!

The Hirschmann Web site lists the AUTA 6000 KE-F 474 (p/n 921 601-001 or 921 601-003 if supplied by Mercedes-Benz) as being specific to the W202. Not sure exactly what's special about it (mounting, probably), but it might be worth checking exactly which model this is if you're thinking of trying to fit it to a W124. There are other versions of the AUTA 6000 and several different mounting kits.

The link I posted is definately for a W124 , I would go with that one , that way you can be sure ....

OK, except the wires won't reach the radio because the 2040 is designed for installation at the front of the vehicle.

Fair Enough Brian .... ;)

I can only recommend what i was told .... i was told that the 6000 model is not made anymore ....

How come it has an angled black collar on it ? presumably so it can point slightly backwards like on all the w124 models ? None of the w124's have aerials on the front wings .....

Not sure, but my w124 cable is run to the back of the car , so presumably it just plugs in.... you wouldn't want to take all the interior trim out just to fit a new aerial would you ?

From the website :-

Universal automatic antenna
0 - 35º
front mounting (for rear installation use extension cable
HIT AUKAB 420)

easy telescope change

Soyou might need a new cable too .... best to have a look because equally you might not ....

Difficult to say about fitting and wiring because the W124 is from an era when such exotica as radios and aerials were not standard equipment.

But there are two factors to consider when mounting the aerial: the backwards tilt that you mentioned, and also the steep lateral angle at which it cuts the rear panel. (Much more than the 35° that the 2040 mentions!)

My 1990 230E had a typical after-market lash-up fitted. The aerial is from Harada, the wiring was passed through the easiest route from back to front (i.e., stuffed under the carpet and not run through the ducts with all the factory-fitted wires), and the hole in the panel was definitely not cut in the factory!
