Confused Cradle

Here's hoping that someone knows and can help.....

In my 2002 W210 E320CDi there's a phone cradle fitted just left of the main console. I call it "the phone on a stick."
The phone holder etc. looks to be a proper Mercedes part. Tried enquiring of the previous owner which phone he had fitted, but without success.

My question is, what would be involved in changing the current useless arrangement for this one?

I just happen to have a K750i which works well and would suit the purpose.

Thanks for the reply and info, I had hoped that there'd be a less expensive solution than the BT adapter at circa £300! Perhaps they are the only viable options though.

My BT handsfree "Uhura look-alike" works for now, but it's a bit like having a large flea in one's ear.
