I found diagram for connection of sub to rear speakers if you dont have pre-amp output.
1. (-) of left rear speaker to (+) on input of amp
2. (-) of right rear speaker to (-) on input of amp

Is that the right way to connect it? Is it save to do it and how is that effecing sound quality? I thinking of buying Alpine SWE-1000 to add a llittle bass to factory sound. I have picture of this connection but I cant post it at work.

Any opinions please.

I can't see how that would work to drive a sub.
Surely you need a dedicated sub pre-amp out?
Anything else would just have the wrong frequency range, impedence and voltage.

I doubt that would work at all. Usually amplified subs require a pair of +ve and -ve inputs, left and right, either low level from a pre-amp output or high level from speaker outputs. Subs will work off a single channel feed, left or right, but then you could well be missing some of the bass detail depending on the stereo separation.

If you want to save a bit, I'm selling a new Blaupunkt THB-200A that I bought just last week for my SL. The sound from it is beautifully deep and the only reason I'm not going to use it is because I can't find a suitable mounting place even though it's compact. I'll be putting it in the for sale section in a moment. Let me know if you're interested. It has both low and high level inputs which means you can simply connect the rear speaker cables to it from both channels.

Regards,

I think he is maybe thinking of the high level outputs from the speakers going into the sub but is wanting to wire the speakers straight to the sub or the amp?

He has written the wrong connection info. The Alpine is the same as the Blaupunkt it takes + and - from both the left and right speaker. Pretty much all active subwoofers take low level or high level input.

Thank you... thats exacly what picture shows. How that work? Can I still keep 2 rear speakers? And power sub amp?

Burger... I found your ad. How do I connect your unit to my sound system?

You take feeds from a pair of speakers (left and right) and connect them to the supplied wiring harness. I don't know the specifics of your vehicle, but yes, you keep the rear speakers connected and run the feeds back to the sub... so you add the sub. There's a pair of wires (+ve and -ve) for each speaker.

Hope that helps. It basically connects in exactly the same way as the Alpine one you're looking at would do.

One difference is the way the Blaupunkt sub is powered as you only have to give it a +ve and earth power feed, no need for an accessory connection. It switches itself on when there's an audio signal and off 60 seconds after audio stops.

:wallbash: Still a little confused... On my W210 its standard Command with 6 speakers (2 tweeters & 4 door speakers). They all are 4ohm. By this connection do you mean I take one feeds from each channel?
Do I connect it in line or paraler? Isnt that effecting load on head unit? After all I dont want to burn unit because of wrong connection.

You connect in parallel with a left and right door speaker feed - 4 wires, two for each channel. It will not affect the command system or the load on it in any negative way. You leave the speakers connected.

Hope that helps.
