conversion update on my w212

Each to their own it's a nice car, but imho those vinyl stickers really make the car look cheap.

so im guessing the consensus suggests its not a good move.. hmm ok.. atleast i have some feedback to go on..

thank you

One thing I don't understand is why if you didn't like the E Class did you buy one??

i got a very personal spec to mine, which worked.

the e class is a very dull and boring car.

i had to get some mods done to keep it as fresh as possible.

im happy with it, i think... just very boring... and lacks emotion an character... hopefully some of the mods (if not all) will keep a smile on my face.

Chavtastic! :wallbash:

really that bad.... id say its on border line.

i mean would it have been better just to have proper carbon fibre wrap put on with out the art work or is it the art work i had done that makes it chavy?

i dont think its all that bad.. perhaps a shade or two darker, perhaps... or is it really that wrong?

As mentioned earlier, I think the trompe-l'œil is very effective, judging by the photos. However, this is not something I would do, and I think the objections voiced by others are based on the fact that it is a) artifice and/or b) not in keeping with the car. Same goes for the wheels, the showy exhaust tips and even the de-badging, to be honest.

You're dressing the car up to look like something it isn't (yeah, I know that's the point) and in doing so, you've used something that looks like carbon fibre but isn't, and which bears the name of tuning house that had nothing to do with it. That kind of thing is rarely going to win many admirers amongst the discerning. You did ask...

I think the car looked ok before the application of the vinyl stickers which imo are just plain grotesque. That is just my opinion though but I could never understand all this modifying, many seem to enjoy it but to me it seems a bit pointless. Maybe ok for the teenager with a clapped out Nova or similar but it seems a bit ridiculous to hack around what looks like was a really nice E class. Everyone to their own though and it would be a boring old world if we were all the same!!

I've nothing against lairy graphic'd cars but they have to be things like a Rally Rep'd EVO or Impreza and bear a decent resemblance to their Competition cousins.

E Class buses just don't do this.

Least it aint sprayed Pink like someone posted recently!

In post 27 I said I like it. Then the front wing stickers went on. WTF.

Boss you are out of your mind. Get the bloody things off.

Other than that I still like it.:thumb:

I think that it is your car......do to it what YOU like.

Great skill and expertise in the sticker department, but can't help but feel the time would have been better spent on a front number plate to make the car road legal......:dk:
Or can we all be selective now with the laws of the land?

I think you might have gotten away with it (on here at least) if the car was wearing a Brabus kit/Brabus wheels. as it stand it just looks completely out of place.

But at the end of the day, if you like it thats all that matters.

I think the effect is very, very good and only some angles would it not look real. So kudos on creating a very nice piece of artwork! :)

At first, when you showed it to me a few days ago, I thought wow, very individual, but I think I'll reserve my final opinion 'till I see it in real life. But, as I say, very clever. You could probably market those....actually, business venture? Call me! :)

You could make a decent 'fake' rear diffuser using that shading techique actually

In the very first post The Boss asked

"so .. what do y'all think..?"

So I gave my thoughts. I like and respect The Boss for the things he does and being part of our community. We even shared in his wedding - loved the Top Hat on the Smart.

So if he asks for an opinion he will get an answer from me of what I think.

Non intended to anyone :thumb:

Like others, I was generally impressed with the work until the very high quality but massively chavvy CF stickers came along. Regardless of the quality and desirability, though, are there some angles from which the fake relief looks horribly wrong? Like this: Freaky realistic optical illusions

Another fine example of aposite word selection there. Thanks. :D
