Cost of gearbox oil flush and change?

I did it once on the 190E. It required more regular change, once every three years. It was hell of a job without a ram, lying on a cold floor, with the slimy fluid undoing the bolts about ten of them. Vowed never to do it again.

The next time I sent it to a garage, he was worse than me with a leak even I provided a new gasket. The filter alone was £80.

Not looking forward with the W211 but only 28K miles. Will try to wait until 75K miles as Merc said or sooner if the gear change is not smooth.

This is the pain of owning a Merc.

Your like me man I'm thinking of what to change on my car 24/7 even in my sleep lmao!

as soon as I got the m3 I changed the oil/filter/Vanos filter and now im thinking of other stuff that I may need to service even though the car has just had a service 3k ago.

lol!!
That's what I'm talking about.

My 63 has had 5 oil changes in approx 5000 miles!:doh:

lol!

I have 16 shiney new plugs for it too.. but I have been advised that I really don't need to change them at 11,000 miles. lol!

I'm trying to resist for a while longer......

...M3....humph...mutter..mutter...

He loves regular, fresh blood in his CLS too!

I'm not suprised, I saw his motor at the Peak District GTG it is georgous, not only would I be giving it fresh blood I think I would be sleeping with it :D

C240sport97 is an absolute top guy too really enjoyed speaking to him at the GTG :thumb:

I guess I had better put up my prices. I charge for a full ATF change using Mb parts £110. ( I still make a profit on that too :) )

Glad to hear the SLK is tucked up. :thumb:

A remap, you say!

Ooo.
I would very much like to hear from you about that!

I can't imagine how that is going to feel in the shell of an SLK!

That's why I took it to MB for a gearbox service to get it ready for the remap!

i'm looking forward to see the before and after gains!

have you thought about taking your 63 for a remap? to take it up to blackseries power;)

Good to meet you too Ian ..

I do love your CLK exhaust .. I am still thinking of removing the CLS's centre box to get a bit more noise, but worried that it may out of character and too noisy

lol

True, about every 5 or 6k miles. Makes sense since oil replacement is not expensive when compared to the engine being better protected.

you not so bad yourself :)

I think if you remove your silencer, it will be fine.
The fact that you have an AMG will ensure that it will remain "in keep".

I was thinking about the rear cats the other day, but have now decided to leave them alone.

It is all to easy to fall into the "wanting more..more.." trap!

I'm gonna keep things real.
It sounds mental enough as it is, if I'm honest.

Fair comments about the fluid changes too! :thumb:
And thanks, too, for your compliments. ;)

hi guys, i kwagga from south africa, need abit of advice on an b180 a/t petrol 2011 model ,can i switch from sinthetic oil to atf and how must i raise my groundclearance and what is the best front shocks to replace the old ones?

Welcome to the forum Kwagga

Do not in any circumstances use ATF in place of synthetic oil in your engine.
Ideally you should use any 5w/40 synthetic oil that reaches MB spec of 229.5
You need longer springs to raise your car.
I would look at Bilstein shock absorbers if you want to change from MB .
