So I bought one of these after some good reports on here as to their usage.

It is currently hooked up to my 124 which is not seeing a lot of use right now.

I have not seen the "lights" on the charging indicator get above 2. Car always starts fine just wondering why the lights on the charger never get above 2.

Thoughts?

Battery is a newish Bosch 100aH.

I'm looking to buy a Ctek 5.0 this week and from my research the 0.8 version is for small 12v vehicles... maybe it's not 'big' enough for the amps per hour (Ah) rating required for a 124?

See here... www.ctek.com

Think that the previous poster may be correct. While it would probably be fine as a top up maintenance charger at O.8AMP it will take a long time to fully charge a flattened 100amp battery. Have you got it switched to the 12V rather than 6 volt setting [ if it has one?]

Bugger! Thanks Jane270ML.

Graeme. No 6 or 12v setting.

Ill have to live with my purchase

This is the one you want :thumb: CTEK CTE-MXS5.0 5A 12V Car Battery Charger: Amazon.co.uk: Car & Motorbike
slightly more sophisticated and with a greater charging current capacity than the smaller CTEK MXS 3.6 3.8A 12V Multi-Functional 4-Stage Car Battery Charger which is the what Mercedes themselves supply [ rebranded naturlich] as a maintenance charger for their newer models

You could hang fire and wait till Lidl do their £15 CTEK equivalent. It was on sale a couple of months ago but their offers tend to rotate so my guess is it will be offered again in about six months or so.

Sounds like it's doing the exact job you bought it for to me, a maintenance charger for a battery in good health so it will never show a high charge. A maintenance charger will typically charge between 0.8 and 1.2 amps

If you are not happy with it I'll happily buy it off you as my accumate maintenance charger has just gone bang after 5 years

I have the CTEK MSX 3.6 which is more than adequate for my maintenance charging. It gets up to full charge in a few hours and trickle charges as necessary thereafter. Waited for ages for the Lidl version, but lost patience!
