Hi All,
I’m moving a copy of this plea to this part of the forum because, a) It looks more electrical than engine now, and b) Wherever the end of my wit’s are, that’s where I am.
Just an update on the problem of a cutting-out 24v 124, last post link here:
http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/engine/83846-w124-300-24-runs-cold-start-then-dies-when-warm.html
The electrician was due round on Monday to diagnose, so on Saturday the garage charged up the battery, and the car started up like a gem. When the electrician came on the Monday, again, once the battery was re-connected, started up and ran for over an hour with no ill effects. However, having stopped it and left it overnight, it refused to start again. However, it will start for anything up to an hour after its first start.
Could this be an immobiliser issue, perhaps?
Does a reinstated current invigorate some relay?
It’s running for longer each time, almost like it’s trying to purge a problem- what am I saying?
Anyway, can this longer running eliminate a crankshaft position sensor problem, ie, if the sensor has gone, is it gone, or can it be an intermittent fault?
The ignition barrel has around three mm of play, could that be the easy answer??
Many thanks in advance for any advice.
Cheers,
Paul
