Das help

An argos DA won’t touch swirl marks on merc paint which is known to be “hard paint” but if your just after a quick polish then it will do the job.. if you want to correct merc paint you will need a more powerful and reliable DA e.g das6,das6 pro plus or the new force driven DA’s with the right cutting polishes n cutting pads.. buy cheap buy twice

I understand it will do just fine but will take longer. This is why you have the das6 pro. It is for pro use where time is money.

As some specs are not readily available for the Argos DA it is identical to the Sealy, Durens and no doubt many others.
It is 600w with an 8mm throw, takes standard DA backing plates and has a speed range between 1500-6800 rpm and the warranty is 2 years.
It has speed marking between 1-6 and the speed is variable anywhere in that range as the speed selector has no detents.

The Das6 is 900w, 8mm throw and 2500-6500 rpm.

The major downsides to the Challenge DA is that the cable is a bit short and it is supplied with a 6" plate and 7" pad which may only be OK for a large area such as a roof.

Thanks Ant.

I'd better open the box and measure the backing plate before i order some pads.

I'm going to order a Green hex logic and maybe a finer blue. For something like this any recommendations on which compound to go for?

Would something like Meg's ultimate compound be ok although i think that for more hand applying. I haven't looked into this too much outside of watching an hour long video.

I'll have a look at what pad comes with it as i imagine it'll only be good for applying wax or polish.

I'm using the Meg ultimate but only as it was easily available in Halford's and is mentioned that it is OK for DA use.
It does the job but and there will be better options depending on the task that the pro guys will recommend.

That was the reason I was going to go for it tbh :)
