My usually calm 15 mile drive to work was rudely interrupted by the dashboard turning into a disco light unit, quickly followed by complete loss of power and the strong smell of diesel...
Inspection revealed that one of the clips securing a low pressure fuel pipe to the pump had failed - and I now had a lovely shiny, smokey engine bay !
The RAC did good. Their engineer secured the pipe using some strong twisted wire, and I managed to limp down to Olly in Portsmouth.
All plastic pipes to be replaced tomorrow, but I guess that is better than I first expected.
Funny though... I have felt nauseated ever since, so I think a good steam clean of the engine is in order.
