Diesel Power Tuning

Yes I have recently fitted one to my W210 E300td and it has made a big difference to the power I've also gained about another 2MPG, I installed it myself which was a 20 minute job although i had to change some of the settings to reduce the smoke, I was guided through this process by Wim Essing over the phone who was very helpful, regards Chris

I've arranged to see a local DPT supplier near Ipswich, tomorrow. My Phaeton engine is the VW/Audi 3 litre common rail diesel, but it has many different power ratings depending on which car it's fitted to and its vintage. I do wonder whether mappings and fuellings can be that different or if it's simply down to the installation.

According to a published source mine produces 225bhp and 450 NM (whatever that is in real money) and I'm told the magic of Wim Essing should raise it to 276bhp and 530 Newtons as well as improve fuel consumption, provided its driven as before. I'll let you know.

Apparently some 38 Mercedes dealers in Holland offer this product to their customers, according to the UK website.

Did you have the software to change the settings or can you do it by sending to the serial port another way ?

This is correct and fully approved by MB and has the same effect as the Swedish KFC

KFC -- Kentucky Fried Chicken? I wouldn't say it has quite that violent impact on the lower digestive tract, but it's certainly effective! :D

There are 3 adjustment screws under the sticker, it's just a matter of knowing which one does what and adjusting accordingly, sorry for delay in reply, regards Chris

Maybe you have a different unit, what is actually called ?
Mine is from DPT - http://www.dieselpowertuning.co.uk/index.php

If it is the same, what do the screws do differently to changing the parameters via a laptop. There are 6 parameters to set this way?

*Edit*
Just realised you will have a different unit - the VP-37 module which is not a programmable unit like the common rail units

I have justy had tunit fitted to my car, see my other thread. It is excellent, better mpg, more torque, no lag, smoother power delivery. Well worth it. www.tunit.com
