Diesels to sound like V8 petrols!

As A J Foyt is reputed to have said "There ain't no substitute for cubic inches" ;) You might just get the sound right---- BMW havn't :o --- but how are you going to simulate that stationary vehicle "rocking" when you blip the throttle, and that feeling of being attached to an enormous piece of elastic stretching to the horizon as you open her up?

Don't know about V8 sound, but they've got 'wiper slap' down pat...

Unfortunately this is likely to continue.
On account of the fact that electric vehicles are near silent and will need an added soundtrack.
It'll be like downloadable ringtones - all over again...

I think I'd like something that deadened the diesel clatter in my Saab.... but possibly not adding different sounds, just silence would be nice! :D

Mercedes diesels actually seem not too bad for noise I've found - mine is certainly very muted once warm and the exhaust note has a pleasant growl when pushed! :)

I think it's a good thing once Hydrogen vehicles are common place and AMG do a faster version of the C, E, S etc a nice soundtrack will be needed.
Imagine putting your foot down and hearing nothing, not the same eh?
I think if a lot of improvement is made and they're not put on diesels they'll be a good idea.

German tuning firm - Heiko - sells an exhaust for Volvo's that makes the D5 (5 cyl diesel) sound just like a V8....

MB's V8 diesel sounds more or less like the petrol V8 btw. :thumb:
