Diesels to sound like V8 petrols!

I never knew that, I know its sold in some EU countries.
Why did they drop out of Germany?

I guess it was when the old E became the new E as they used to offer it in the W/S211.

My misstake..... S is now offered with the 450 Cdi engine in Germany. 320bhp and 0-62 in 6.6s

They do however (in Germany), offer a new E300 Cdi, 6 cyl and 204bhp. It's slower than the E250 Cdi btw.

A v8 diesel is a very heavy thing. Won't do a cars handling any favours I guess.

The e300cdi may be slower than a 250cdi but smoother, more refined and under less strain. Over 300k miles I wager the 300cdi the more reliable. Plus it will come with the 7sp box.

The 450cdi is ample for an S class/ML but the new 350cdi 250bhp and ligher and probably more than ample for a E. Still, a diesel AMG V8 varient with a turbo set up like the 250cdi with maybe 400bhp on tap would be a very compelling car.

The words 'rat up' and 'drain pipe' spring to mind.

Not bad only .2 of a second off the 250 CDi.
Fuel figures look good too.
