Hello,
as anyone changed the diff mounts? Are they easy to change or a pain like some other bushes?
Would it be recommended to changed them while swapping the Diff or they should be OK? Car as 100,000 on the clock.
Cheers.

BUt are they easy or tough as the rear subframe bushes to take off?
Cheers.

Here we go.
Its a paste and copy from here:
Any step by step to change the Diff W210 E300TD? - Benzworld.org - Mercedes-Benz Discussion Forum

OK, it was the day of swapping differencials, it went more or less OK, I got trouble with the nut that hold the diff at the front, it was turning freely, not going down, I stripped the car inside to see if I could find the nut under the seat, nope, it was inbetween the chassis hidden on top of the subframe. A spanner 17mm hold it while unscrewing the bolt.
The mounts needed to be banged/ shisel away. Pfff...
The easy way we figure out was to put a lever in the middle of it, pull the centre part out ( mine was not hard to do, I reckon the rubber was gone) then bang/shisel the outside that is left over. The easiest way is to go from the middle side of the car, like you look at them facing the rear of the car. Does this make sense? This because they are coming out about 50mm and its easier to bang it there to break through.
The picture I show are from the other side, this was the first one and we didn't know.
To put the new one in, well, banging on the outer casing on all "corners" and it slowly fit in.
Still clunking a bit here, my diff was not the bother I guess beside leaking from a side seal, it must be the way they are?
All the best.
Olivier
Oh, pictures to get the donut out the easy way, just put an allen key in and lever it, it come out really easy.

Application form on its way :D.
I wonder what they pay? The shop take 100/ hour, the mecanic must be at 25/ hour? Anyone knows?

Like most chassis work its always a bit more complicated than first meets the eye! Especially if the old corrosion has had a chance to get a grip. Thanks for posting.
For Firefox users to see the pics use control/- and control/+ to change the screen size.

As a guess i would say main dealer mechanics are on approx £10/13 per hour.

Hi Lynall, they must be on more then that, 13 for a pro mecanic is not much, my opinion anyway.

Grober, what do you mean by duplicate?

Most are on between £250-£300 per week (5.5-6 Days). No one pays by the hour in the garage trade.

OMG! Thats rubbish, could explain why most garages do rubbish work!
