Do I have to deselect ECO every time I start up?

Hi all. I'm wondering if there is some way to default my ECO setting to OFF rather than select OFF each time I start my car? I've looked through the manual but can't see anything.
Many thanks in anticipation

There is no user option for that.

BUT in some models it can be disabled, or set to 'last known' position at start. Only problem you will need a special coding program like Vediamo and correct files...

I believe it's an emissions thing - the car has to start in the state in which it was tested.

Not that I am aware of. What is the reason you want to disable it ??

dunno what car you have ,but if it has dynamic select, and has an individual setting, last time I played with it, it appeared you could permanent disable start/stop for that selection. (if by eco you meant start/stop)

I don't know if the individual setting is remembered, if not then it's no better than having to disable start/stop each time.

I have never driven a Mercedes stop start but the other makes I have driven you always have to select it off after you start up,I think it may be the law that to get the cheap tax it has to be that way, that is a guess but it seems strange all the motors are like that.

You can switch it off by setting Sports mode.

You can switch it off by setting Sports mode.
Not on my SLK250 CDI you can't. I tried it and the stop start function still operated.

Only way is too turn it off with the ECO button, which returns to the default "on" each time you start up.

MB MK told me it's a legal requirement and although they can turn off the default within Star, it's illegal for them to do it.

Then my Italian made Jeep is illegal as I can turn it off permanently on that (thank goodness) :)

MB say it's illegal for THEM to set it to be off permanently....

And yes, I agree, it's awful and I always turn it off! :D

Is it just the stop-start?

I only ever had it one one car and I found it OK, I definitely wouldn't want it on an old smoker where I couldn't be confident that it would restart though.

I'm sure that there's a member who claims to know how to turn this off but not sure that they ever shared the details.

Sorry Sports+ mode, start stop doesn't trigger.

My car doesn't default to ECO mode, it defaults to comfort mode.

But not after an extended period.
It remembers the setting you prefer, then forgets it after when the engine is off for about 3-4 hours or thereabouts.

I wonder whether there's a fuse that could be pulled out to disable it. I agree that it's a pain - another benefit of the nanny-state.

It's like Sport mode, which needs to be selected every time I start the car. It is really irritating when I stop for my fish and chips to have to reselect Sport mode. You'd think that if you stopped for less than 10 minutes, it would retain the last setting selected.

I drive in C mode.

In a diesel it seems pointless to hold on to gears longer than needed.

I asked my dealer about having the start/stop switched off permanently and was told they weren't allowed to do it. I wondered if a independent specialist could do it but would that effect the warranty?

I always drive around with ECO on. Sureley it's best to save fuel

I wasn't aware that a C63 had the benefit of an ECO mode.
