Morning all,

I've been hanging my nose over a set of 19" Brabus Split Rims on ebay, been to see them and they need a full refurb, anyway, that's not the point.

They are 99p no reserve so I've been having a few bids on them, only to be beaten by the same bidder time after time, I got the feeling that the seller may have a friend who was helping the auction along....

So a little digging and checking out his other items and it would seem that the high bidder on each of his items is the same guy... Ooh, imagine that!

See pics ;-)

So I've obviously decided not to pursue them any further!

Report it to eBay then - shill bidding is not tolerated.

Anyone know how to? Can't find it on the eye pad or my eye phone! ;-)

Look at the item in a browser as normal, bottom right of the screen should be "report Item"

3 Drop down boxes:

1. Listing practices
2. Fraudulent listing activities
3. Seller is using other accounts to inflate the price.

Job done.

As others have said eBay take this very seriously and will investigate/end auctions if they suspect shill bidding.

Just received this message from the seller!

"Just an update on what is going on with these wheels the person that won them has called me just to say he does not know if they will fit his car ??? Why why is ebay full of idiots so I said he can come over and try them but if he does not take them you can have them for what your highest bid was if your still interested in them. Cheers"

Really.......

I'm the bloody same I bought a parrot hands free kit payed via PayPal on the 18th still no package contacted him send copy of invoice from PayPal

He replied and said for me to check records so I sent copy again and asked him to check PayPal

Guess what suddenly he's out of the office so I rang him no answer phone busy

Give me a break

No that's the classic way to shill bid - mate bumps up the price and then either bales out or cancels the final bit using "I entered the wrong amount"

+1, far too common a strategy on eBay

Doesn't really matter though does it.

They're £800. Do you want them or not?

You should buy them - might cheer you up...

That's the bottom line though isn't it.

You can come on here & bitch until the cows come home & 20 different people who don't understand how ebay works will encourage you to do everything from reporting alleged shill bidding to Ebay to writing to the Home Secretary to taking it to the European Court.

Whatever they or you do the question will still be the same - do you want them at £800 or not?

You bid £800, why don't you want them now at £800?

So just to clarify, instead of apologising for getting a friend or another account to bid the item up, you would rather just say "Well do you want them or not??"

You've met me Neil so you know I'm a genuine guy, I thought the same.... 99p no reserve auctions are exactly that, list your item and leave it to run. My real bid would've been around the £310 mark looking at the pics until the item was bidded up.

Thanks for the offer at £800 but I think I'll decline, you could always realist them..... Or offer them to the bidder beneath me. Either way, good luck with sale.

They're not my wheels, it's not my ebay ID & I have nothing whatsoever to do with the auction.

Since the only bidder we can see in your first pictures is 'akcrossman' I assumed that was you & you had bid £800. Is that not correct?
