Does 1985 make it a classic?

W123 230 TE
Hi all, I'm the new (second) owner of a low mileage '85 230 TE Auto.

I like old cars, with as little electronics as possible as I like to get my hands dirty, but other than test driving a second-hand, rusty one of these probably 15 years ago, I know almost nothing about Mercedes cars.

I'm also a fan of rear wheel drive, and estate cars, so this one fits the bill there. I don't like rust - my current and previous daily drivers being old Beemers means I get to see plenty - but this one doesn't appear to really have any.

I know I will have plenty of questions while re-commissioning my new toy so I'm sure I'll soon be finding my way around the tech sections with W123 queries.

Good condition W123 estates are quite rare and highly desirable these days .

They are considered classics by many and have a loyal following . There is an annual national day held for them with large numbers turning up .

Thanks. I'll keep an eye on the events. All my stuff is last-century - the older the better!

1985 doesn't make it a classic, but being a W123 TE does because they are in demand and there aren't many about.
It was Mercedes first estate car so that means it has some cache.
