Hi.

How would I know if my 52 reg 270cdi has a dpf?

And which engine oil would be best?

Thanks

Nope to the dpf.

Tend to use Mobil1 or Shell Helix oil.

Very unlikely dpf, datacard will tell if there is factory fitted one. I think it was rarely fitted in germany, when car was classified to lower tax class with DPF (My W211 has one). Then I have heard rumors about retrofitted dpfs, not sure anyone would have reason to do that...

Then you can always check tip of the exhaust; if soot there no DPF ;)

Had an Oil & Filter change at National Tyres the other day, good to see they used
Fuchs TITAN Supersyn 229.5 SAE 5W-40 :thumb:

Has anyone had any experience with mobi 1 5w40 or mobi 1 5w30

Whats the difference between 5w30 and 5w40.

Thanks

MB oil is very cheap at the moment, there are a couple of threads on this. Can also be bought on ebay from a couple of dealers (IIRC MB Newcastle)

The 5W40 is a little thicker at operating temperature. 3 cSt at 100 Deg C.
What difference, if any, that makes is anybodies guess. I imagine both fall within the acceptable grades on the chart in your owners manual.

Would this be the correct oil? It's not 229.51 does that make a difference?

My cars a w211 52 reg 270cdi currently on 109k

Why not check out the link provided in post #5. This takes you to the current Mercedes approved list for 229.5 (and 229.51, if you change the 'select sheet' filter at the top.

PS I didn't see Super 3000 X1 in either list.

Along with many others on this forum, I much prefer Mobil 1 0W-40, followed by Shell Helix Ultra.

Is the above the correct oil? Also euro car parts have a promotion offer "freegift" with all orders over £10
