Can anyone tell me if MB do a replacement drilled front brake disc for a W208 clk 320. I do not really want to put on an after market trick disc as I feel the original brakes are good. However I do feel they fade a bit when hot. Thanks

Drilled discs are all well and good in cooling terms, but only if the rest of your braking system is up to scratch too. I'd be looking at the state of the existing pads, discs and fluid first.
If your fluid hasn't been changed in the last couple of years, do that before going anywhere near the discs and pads.
If the pads and discs are getting low in terms of thickness, and near the end of their life, then that won't be helping matters.

It's not the latest, it's the previous shape, but the upgraded discs and calipers etc can be fitted to the W208 by someone slightly creative.

I imagine those will be just short of £1000 all in :o

Don't make me look in the catalogue! ;)

The standard items are expensive anyway, calipers are about £70 each and the discs are about the same IIRC. You're talking about £500 for the fronts probably.

££££

Thanks for input. I have to change pads and discs at service next week and was thinking if it is not much more for drilled then .........

But as these costs it is a non starter. As I said the standard brakes are not terrible.

Your brake fade could of course be due entirely to the make/grade of pads fitted.

Drilled Discs

Hi there,

I have had some drilled discs fitted to my 209 CLK 500 today ! They are the same size exacly as the ' normal ' ones but as I have only done 2 miles with them on I cant comment on how they stop yet ! They do look very cool though ! Bought them from the local dealer ( who did not want to sell them to me as my car does not have them as standard ) and they fitted just fine .... if the latest standard discs fit then these should also. Should also mention that the whole lot ' all in ' with pads, sensor and the drilled discs cost me £ 256.00 ( not fitted ) this morning !

Hope that this helps,

Ident
