That particular 320 is the older in line 6 engine so the E280 V6 is actually a better choice. But if you can get the E320 V6 3 Litre then yes it is quicker than the 280.

Confusingly both the 280 & 320 V6's are 3L units.

Looks like the facelift car has had 5+ owners in less than 6 years if I have read the spec sheet right. Seems rather too many for that type of car, particularly in less than 6 years.

The IL6 engine is noisier and not as smooth as the V6 but it is slightly better on fuel and in my experience lacks nothing in performance.

However I prefer the look of the facelift car.

Forum member PXW is selling his E280 V6 CDi Avantgarde estate for £8000, if that's of any interest? It looks a good car.

Been in both. Shades of grey but the 320 does move along more crisply.

Agreed. Everything else being equal, I'd take a V6 320 over the V6 280 but there really is not much in it at all. Either one has more than enough performance. I've never felt short-changed with the response of my 280. I'd choose on on the basis of condition rather than 320 / 280 comparisons. A newer / cleaner 280 would appeal to me more than a 'tired' 320.
