So i had a free day and thought i would pop down to BCA paddock wood

There were some lovely Mercs and in particular a lovely black E320 cdi estate (which i haf my eye on) however it had been to moon and back 298k miles (i think) somewhere near that figure, and had a serious lack of history. The last service was on oct 10 i think an was around 158k miles so somewhat short of the near 300k it was at

Anyway so i hung around till it went through thinking no dealet would want to touch it with a barge pole

How wrong was i. It started at 4k and before you could say thats a lot. It was at 4700 at which point i turned and walked away as i was already seriously late for the school run.

Anyone else go today. If so what are your thoughts?

Expect a haircut before it turns up for sale.

Post the numberplate up here so that interested parties are aware when they are searching.

Lol , good point

I shall go and stand in the corner

by the sounds of it, it will be almost impossible to alter mileage. i dont know full reg, all i know is it started YY07 was a e320 cdi sport estate in black, oh and was registered july 07

Should someone be so inclined, altering the mileage would be no problem and a sticker that says mileage not warranted would be placed on the odometer. However if someone tied the purchase to the auction then there would be a problem. However a wise buyer would do his checks and walk away anyway. Who wants to waste time in the courts fighting a battle you may well not win.
Mr dodgy dealer, if there is one, wouldn't want a wise buyer anyway, he'll just wait for a mug punter. Whats 200k between "friends"

Black E320 CDI Sport - I like your style ;).

Relies on the new buyer checking it.

Any buyer who doesn't check the V5 and MOT certificate and who doesn't do an HPI check is making a mistake IMHO

I check everything including the VIN on all the paperwork and in all locations on the car. I've never found a discrepancy but finding it before purchase would save a lot of hassle later

All new MOT's show the last four years MOT mileages, so a buyer would have to be blind not to see a clocked car now.

Trouble is if you are going to the hassle of clocking the car generating a fake MOT is the simple bit!

As said it relies on the buyer doing their homework and many don't!
