So far this year I have had two new front springs and then a couple of weeks later a new nearside rear wheel bearing.

The steering wheel is now not centred when driving in a straight line. The indi who did the bearing and springs reckons he put it back together the way it came apart ...

I have been to the local tyre place and had it tracked and aligned and on their machine it looks right - but it’s not when you drive it. Its been in there twice but its still not right.

The car is a 2006 LHD if that makes a difference. I’ve had it from new (193,000miles) so I know its not been bashed or crashed.

Do I need some more specialist set up on my tracking / wheel alignment ? I’m in Cheshire / South Manchester if anyone knows a good local.

Try www.alignmycar.co.uk/

They are Hunter approved alignment centres so use decent kit

Very good advice, many thanks! - found a local place this morning who have the kit - in there at 8.30 am and all sorted now with a straight steering wheel.

Went through this with my old W123 .I replaced all the front steering parts and took it along to the garage to have it tracked up .And on driving i noticed , that on a left turn the indicator was not canceling after i centred the wheel . I took it to 2 other places only to find it was no better. Then i found this old guy that knew about these problems .In 15 mins he put it right . So you need to talk to to a chap that know about this problem . No good going to the big garages they wont have time for you ..Back street is the people to see. You will get it right dont worry .
