E55 Spark plug leads

Posting for future reference.

I got the order of the ignition wires as following, but if I recall, the letters on the rocker cover match with the letter stamped on the metal part of the Leads?

G - 1121500118 - 1B, 2B, 3B, 4B, 5B, 6B, 7A, 7B, 8A
K - 1121500218 - 3A, 4A, 6A, 8B,
H - 1121500318 - 2A, 5A
L - 1121500418 - 1A

For example those stamped with letter G appear to be part of those where 9 are needed.

Thats a saving of £312 from what the stealers would have charged for basically the same items.

Sadly, it may not always be the same items. Some cowboys fitted a Bosch distributor cap. Cracking up after 9 months so I binned it. Bought a genuine MB one, also Bosch.

All well nearly 4 years later, still looks almost new.

Others have also reported poor quality Bosch parts.

Buyer beware.

Yhh this is what I experienced when I bought a bosch coil off of Amazon few years back. Looked legit to me but it just didn’t last very long. Few Friends have experienced similar so try to get from dealers as much as possible now.

Anyone know why this corrosion would occur please? Would it be because the boot was not fully on?

Was just checking the leads the other day and on number 6 literally the lightest tug and the lead popped off with a small cloud of this blueish dust. They are both Bosch products not MB.

Should one apply dielectric grease on the boots to avoid moisture buildup?

Whenever I unplug anything on my 1991 300-24, I clean contacts throroughly with a good quality electrical contact cleaner. NOT WD40, unless it's their contact cleaner.

All well so far.

Question is . How long (miles) since you last popped the leads off to find similar ?

Hey Pete, IIRC I changed them 2 years ago, all coils and leads. On this one, just the one visible in the pic was corroded, the other plug was clean.
