E55, Stop car too low!! help..

So I stripped the pump out and refitted it there was a broken line for the air in which I fixed. (don’t think this was causing the issue)

once I had jacked the car up both sides to check the level sensor I started it and the car raised?

It’s sitting fine now but I’m no wiser as to what the issue was.

A broken line will be your cause. The EHC ECU constantly checks a host of variables. It checks pressure and the time it takes to produce that pressure. If there is an error it will spot it. The tolerances are very tight.

Even if the hose is for the air in? it was the rubber hose from the filter to the pump

As I understand it:

You have the pump & drier - ECU - Height Sensors - Struts / Air Bags - ABS Sensors

The ECU is constantly checking each of the components for their operation based on a set of algorithms. These include:

Time to do what they are supposed to be doing.
Temperature of the motor/pump
Height & Pressure

If an one of these does not meet the expected algorithm? You would expect an error condition.

In your case: If the pump is struggling to to pull air in? This will mean that it takes longer than expected to compete any other function in that sequence of its program.

Or, if the to lift the car 30mm should take 10 secs!!! But it takes 12 secs? It will error... Also in the extra 2 secs it will generate more heat which can also throw an error.

WIth BMW you can get a program (Inpa) where you can watch the entire cycle including al the variables in real time. I suspect that STAR would do similar in a Merc?

I think this was all caused by a low voltage issue as I have a battery drain that needs addressing
