Sky boxes need to be registered to the viewing card. If he telephones sky giving the box and card numbers it will work a couple of hours later. I have had to do this a couple of times when buying secondhand boxes.

EXACTLY what I think the problem is here. Either that or he bought it for FreeSat (or whatever its called) and doesn't realise he does need a viewing card still.

Put it this way, there was NO problem with the box when I packed it up.

I can't understand some people here advising you to stuff the guy.

He left feedback when he received what he thought was the item he ordered and now he has a problem with it. Hardly sounds like the actions of a scammer, does it?

As somebody suggested, ask him what's wrong with it and if it really is knackered, get him to return it at his cost for you to check out.

Work with the guy and it'll sort out. And think how you'd feel if the positions were reversed.
