Engine Temperature

Noticed today when showing someone at work my engine that after about 3 hours parked up (indoors) the engine still gave off a lot of heat when I opened the bonnet. Never done this before so thought I'd see if eveyone else thought it was normal.

Engine running temp is just over 80 and I had parked up after doing about 20 miles at 50ish mph.

Absolutely normal.(unless there was smoke and a small fire!).

Thankfully not LOL. I would definitely have been worried then

I find it's usually best to switch the engine off when I've finished with the car.
