Needed some bits for Sybil - dizzy cap/leads/rotor arm - so called ECP to check they had the items in stock and mentioned discount code. No longer applicable the man said.

Delivery of rotor arm expected lunchtime so went to the local branch to collect and before paying mentioned discount again. Same answer - computer says no!

When did the discount stop please assuming I have missed something?

I've experienced this sort of thing on a couple of occasions with ECP.

Don't you have to order online to get the code? Phone or visiting the store only allows other codes which may not be current at the time of calling.

Thanks for the replies - will wait for the ECP man to come back to me with an official response.

I had the same problem. The code only works "on-line" not over the phone or at the branch.

I sat outside the Strood branch and ordered my bits on my iphone, hit the collect in person button then to the amusement of the guy at the counter went back in and asked to collect my now discounted goods.

Whenever they have promotions on they disable all forum discount codes. Seeing as they almost constantly have promotions running, the discount codes are pretty pointless.

Funnily enough, over the past year (220 days) we have suspended promo codes on 5 occasions (3 days each - 15 days in total) so its not as bad as you make out

Bruce is bang on the money!

Our branches have not got the access to offer 25% off over the counter - this is a large discount for us, and as our intro post states you cannot walk in store and demand this discount.

However, we try to make it as easy as possible to obtain the discount, and using our mobile site, iPhone App or even contacting me, will ensure your order, lands on the branches system, with your discount applied.

Why are ECP getting a bashing on the forum?


I thought that members here advocated taking up customer services issues directly and not on the forum?

I seem to see that is the usual chant that goes out with Nick Mercedes.

ECP are a business. Don't like em? Don't use them. They are on here and try and address every complaint via Pat.

For balance. I need a new A/C compressor for my 55. £850 from Merc. £220 new original part with warranty & delivered from another supplier recommended by Olly.

I think we need to stop bashing Pat and ECP. They do not need us.

Have always found my local ECP (Warrington) store really helpful and friendly...I do normally always price check on net...however did not know about forum code...so to be clear the code is MBCLUB25, and can only be applied online?

........as and when it is active, there is also MBCLUB30. If ECP have a special general sale offer on then the MBCLUB code becomes inactive. Sometimes this can work out better, sometimes not so good. Normally though these only last a few days, so then the MBCLUB code becomes active again.

Can't fault it really. ECP aren't always the cheapest on everything but always worth checking first especially with their discount offers, but like most do then check around for other prices. In most instances for the parts I need from ECP, then they generally work out best.

Great to have a company like this offering forum members a discount.....
