'Eurocharged' remap experience

I think this is a fair result Robert.

I have used EC a number of times and both Paul and Andy have gone out of their way to make sure I ended up with the results I was after. I have had some experimental mods and experienced some interesting challenges but the guys have delivered what I have been looking for each time and have gone out of there way to support my developments.

With the extra admin support I am sure communication issues such as this won't take the shine of the great technical solutions they deliver.

Is it me - but £800 for a remap (even with a rolling road print out) seems extraordinarily expensive????

Is that how much these maps cost nowadays??

I presume there's abit more work tuning a N/a vehilce than a turbocharged/supercharged one.

I also had the gearbox remapped. The gearbox TCU torque limiters are adjusted in order to allow the gains from the engine to 'pass through' the box without being 'strangled'.

I have also received a 50% refund that I think is a very generous gesture from Eurocharged, given that the car is driving fine.

Furthermore, I have had Paul of EC on the phone apologising for the mess-up, so all things considered, EC have acted in a professional manner befitting a firm that, IMO, does merit our approval on this Forum :thumb:

I for one will use them again, as I realise that I was the 'exception to the rule' in terms of Customer Service, not the norm!

Cheers,
Robert

Good stuff. Glad its resolved and the business in question should come out unscathed. I for one would use them in future.

Pitts pilot.

It's a shame you didn't do some stopwatch timed runs before and after your remap.

I suspect they would make interesting reading, especially since the car "Feels" more lively due to the gearbox shifts being firmer than originally.

I do not know any of the parties involved (other than through posts on this forum), and while I am of course happy that this matter was resolved in a mutually satisfactory manner, I find it extraordinary that the offer and acceptance were publicly made.

This is not criticism.... just an observation. Perhaps it is a sign of our times that such matters are now discussed publicly on the Internet and not in private.

I thought Pitts Pilot attempted to discuss them in private, but gave up and eventually resorted to a public report.

This often elicits a suitable response from a company that is not readily sorting issues.

I suspect the remap made no difference and the feel is better due to the firmer gearbox shifts.

Sometimes, losing data is "convenient."

The OP tried the private approach without success. Named & shamed seems to have had the desired result in the instance...

That would have been nice... but sadly not so.

What I meant to say was that while I fully understand pitts pilot's initial post - I was expecting the actual financial settlement to be made and be accepted in private.

Either I have too much faith in humanity, or you have too little, or perhaps it's a bit of both.

I'm a realist.

Other than the throttle opening issue on lesser '63 variant cars, there isn't a fat lot to be achieved by remapping a n/a petrol engine.

I recall one member who found his car to be generating a whole 1 Bhp extra after a remap of his compressor, when the company claimed a reasonable increase.
He took a full refund.

Products such as Snake oil, or smoke and mirrors have been on sale since time eternal.

I can confirm that I tried for a fortnight to get hold of the dyno graphs from Eurocharged. (It turned out that one had not been saved, so didn't exist!)

I spoke to both Paul and Andy during that time, and emailed plus texted, but to no avail.

So what was I to do?

Unsurprisingly, being a member of the Forum I posted my problem, saying I was giving up on chasing EC as life was too short. However, I thought it important that other folk knew of my experience.

However, as often happens on forums, a response was elicited from the "responsible" party and a solution was quickly found. Hooray for forums is all I can say!

Paul of Eurocharged offered me a generous 50% refund that I was pleased to accept, and all is now sorted out in an amicable way.

Furthermore, my confidence in Eurocharged is completely restored, and I am pleased to recommend a firm that clearly takes its customers seriously by admitting an error and offering a refund :thumb:

All's well that ends well :)

Cheers,
Robert

And I think the post should close on that !

This thread had made me think about my choice of tuner in more detail.

Got to be msl for me now.
