I would not recommend to use HIDS Direct Limited based on my personal
experience.

I ordered a canbus pro HID kit HB4 9006 55w specifically for the fog lamps
with 8k bulbs to further upgraded and replace my existing 35W HID kit that I
already had integrated in the front bumper.

They instead sent out a H7 HID kit. I rang them up and they agreed to send
myself a pair of HB4 9006 55w 8K bulbs to resolve the issue in exchange as I
was willing to use the ballasts that they had sent which were correct. The
bulbs they then sent were once again incorrect as they were 35W and not 55W. I then rang them and they at first tried to in my opinion **** me off and
claim that a 35w bulb has same level of brightness and light output as a 55w
bulb which in reality is not actually correct. Providing that you have the
correct output ballasts a 35w HID kit is up to 300% brighter than a standard
halogen bulb where a 55W HID kit is up to 400% brighter. Finally they sent
the correct spec bulbs on their third attempt after I insisted on a set of
55w bulbs for my 55w ballasts as per my original order. However, the finish on the bulbs is not actually a true 8K colour temperature as there is no hint
of blue and looks more like a 5K finish. The 6k xenon bulbs in my the headlamps actual have more of a blue tint finish then the actual 8k bulbs
that HIDS Direct have supplied. The quality of the manufacturing of the bulb
reflects the finish of the true rated colour output hence the bulbs that i
have been supplied with are not the best of quality.

To cut the story short I once again contacted Hids Direct and explained all
the above and had simply requested as a compromise and goodwill on their
behalf for them to send myself a pair of 10K bulbs (that way I would
definitely have a white/blue tint finish regardless to the quality of the
bulb) and I would return the defective bulbs when I next visit MSL to have
them installed. I did also quite clearly state to them that if they did this
as goodwill and provided myself with a pair of 10K 55w bulbs then I would be
extremely happy and give them positive feedback about my customer experience with them. They refused to comply. I am simply going to purchase another set of 8K bulbs that are of high quality from an alternative supplier that will reflect the true rated colour output expected from a set of 8K bulbs but out of principle just wanted to share my experience.

:D Erm, ok - may be next time I will buy them from MB Dealers.....!!!

Its just the bulbs that I have issue with but new pair arrived this morn from a reliable supplier so sorted.

Hi Flash , long time no see.

HID's in foglamps are counter productive. The xenon glare is too bright and will just illuminate the fog right in front of you creating a white out.

Probably done you a favour to be honest the fact that they dont fit.

Hey Howard,

Good to hear from you again buddy - I still remember the good old days we used to have with our banter on the forum......:)

I value your and everyone else's opinion and am fully aware that HID kit in fogs has no use in the fog but just wanted to d something different and mainly for cosmetics. Even though I have bi xenon headlamps night driving with HID kit in fogs in great on unlit roads.

People can have ago at me all they like saying that I blind people but each to their own.

PS. I like your new collection of motors.....

So, how are 55w , 8000k HIDs an upgrade?

4300k being the standard lamp...they produce less light (but get bluer) as the numbers increase. 8000k would be next to useless.

IMO you are the one who got it wrong.

Erm..... if you read my original post I said I already had a 35W HID Kit with 8K bulbs and "upgraded" it to a "55W Hid Kit" which has more light output - standard fog kit was halogen 51W and the current HID kit which is 55W actually is rated being 400% brighter then the OEM halogen fog kit!!! Plese learn to read posts correctly before replying.

Please note that I have got noting wrong and know HID kits and their rated colour output in relation to light output inside out!

If you kept the temp of the hids the same that may be true but going up in temp will reduce light output to probably the same possibly lower as the 35w

I have sourced another pair of replacement 8K bulbs so will be classed as upgrade in comparison to a 35w HID kit.

Never a truer word spoken!!!

Funny thing is boys in blue pulled me over in one of the cars 4 times - they could not eve issue me with a ticket and had to walk away as they are not halogen lamps anymore they are therefore not classed as "fog lights" anymore!

Touchy...still think you're wrong.

Not at all.....;)

If you think that I am wrong then please present me with proof and facts to contest what I have stated.

Upgrading a halogen setup to HID like I have is definitely an upgrade with my specific setup.

Rubbish. You are wrong.

At 8k, the Police would have every right to ticket you irrespective of the type of light source. Blue lights are illegal, other than for emergency vehicles.

That chart you have is NOT correct at all and is inaccurate - refer to following link.

If anyone is talking rubbish its you and I am not wrong and yes I have been stopped 4 times and contested and no ticket - apart from being a lot brighter my HID kit looks no different to the DRL kits which have xenon bulbs in some models by the manufacturer in what would have been fog lamps.

Look forward to blinding you on the road grandpa if I ever see you.:D

The finish on the 8k bulbs is pure white with a tint of blue and not like your chart.

You very clearly have very little knowledge or experience on HID kits and colour temp and finish of the actual bulbs.

Ok grandpa......:)

I find it quite entertaining that you start a thread where you are wrong as a rant, then when you have lost the discussion resort to insults and name calling.

Cest La Vie.
