Factory fitted seats or not....

Hello, another newbie question.

Is there a way to tell if the seats in my van were factory fitted from new or added later in its life ?

It currently has 5 seats in the rear with a gap to fit another. The log book states it's a 9 seater ?? When I got insurance quotes some companies were showing it as dualiner ??

The floor has the quick release rails fitted for both seat rows and looks like it was done properly. After all the searching I did I've not seen any other 9 seaters that weren't fully glazed.

Log book also says it's a compact ??

I'm sure the VIN could be used to find the factory data card which should reveal all. I can't do it but I'm sure a fellow helpful forum member could.

It's not unusual for a van with that many seats to have one or some missing. Likely someone traded the van in and kept the seats to sell separately, took them out and damaged them when stored in the garage or they were given away to someone else etc etc….the seats, complete, are worth a few quid as you will have noticed!
Rails can be added reasonably easily; best thing to do is post you VIN asking for a Datacard print as suggested or you could try this site Checking VIN for Mercedes-Benz | CARInfo

Now I'm confused about the whole speed limit problem that seems to a common thing. States its a N1 category on log book so commercial vehicles speed limits. Is that right ?

"Vans, car-derived vans and dual-purpose vehicles

Most vans under 7.5 tonnes laden (loaded) weight, including Ford Transit vans:
have a lower speed limit than cars
must follow the speed limits for goods vehicles of the same weight
A vehicle qualifying as a ‘car-derived van’ or ‘dual-purpose vehicle’ has the same speed limits as a car."
