Sure there are some people on here who have visited London village or surrounding area before...

Need to travel down for 3 nights in November with a three year old, so too young for his own room and trying to do something a bit different to Premier Inn (as they will provide a three bed room).

Actually need to be in Middlesex on one day so either around that area and we'll travel into the centre or somewhere central so we can travel out.

Original plan was to stay at legoland but it's bloomin closed from bonfire night.

Any recommendations?

The Richmond Hill Hotel is very good indeed. LINK.

That does look lovely. They want £850 notes for three days though which is a bit steep as I hope we're not going to be there too much during the day.

Looking about £500 (which is what Legoland would be charging - if they were open!)

There are so many to choose from,

That's the issue. Plus some advertise family freindly but you get tutting when coming in with a little one

I normally just use Expedia and read the hotel reviews

Likewise and/or tripadvisor but you never know if they've been boosted by someone from the company reviewing their own hotel! hence the request just in case anyone has stayed at a real belter with a small person. He's the problem with this. Stayed at the hotel at Chelsea last time, lovely but it was just me and the mrs and it didn't strike me as somewhere the little one would be welcome outside of matchday.

Where to start

I have personally stayed in all of these hotels and would stay again.

Holiday Inn Kensington Forum - I almost lived there for 2 years. OK sized rooms, should be able to get well within your budget, good location as it's next to a tube stop.

Ramada Encore at Acton - Further from the centre but cheap and has parking.

Holiday Inn Express at Hammersmith - Again cheap but has a car park and good sized rooms. Just like every other HI Express on the planet.

If you want to head further out (you mentioned around the Legoland area)

Crowne Plaza at Marlow - Stunning hotel, big rooms, nice area and should be able to get 3 nights for less than £500

Holiday Inn Express Heathrow T5 - Like a mini Crowne Plaza (not like every other HI Express on the planet) and quite cheap but the car park is like a game of Tetris

I agree with the Crowne Plaza at Marlow. Just watch out for the speed camera immediately after entering the 30mph limit - caught me out in an M3 I'd collected just 100 yards down the road! Other than that it's a beautiful area and the hotel is excellent.

When we came over to pick up car, we stayed at the Fox & Goose in Ealing. Not a luxury hotel, but nice people, clean, comfortable beds (they do family rooms). Adjoining the hotel is a nice pub (the Fox & Goose ;) ) with a reasonable restaurant. Roughly £100 - £110/night.
They're pretty busy, though, so check availability.

Very fast and simple to get into London, as well.

Alternatively Hoseasons have some apartments in central London and if available on the dates you require you might grab a good deal

Thanks all. This is exactly the sort of personal experience I was hoping for from the MB crowd.

The mrs is going to the Royal Orthopaedic hospital at stanmore so Middlesex but not far from Edgeware. Hence the Legoland idea initially (only 30 miles away) and gives me something to do with the wee one while the mrs goes to the hospital and also why something in the South East wouldn't really be suitable as it'll take an age to get to the hospital and back.

Legoland may only be 30 miles away but through that part of London on a week day could take an hour and a half to get to and then the same again to get back.

You really want to be staying on the North side of London so that the trip up to Stanmore doesn't become a nightmare in itself.

Appointment for 1:30 in the afternoon so hopefully, she'd do the journey while I slope off the the science museum or something witht eh little man. Tube journey in isn't a disaster, he's a proper wee lad that loves all forms of trains (just make sure we avoid rush hour as I worked in london for five years and know how bad it is!)

My pick would not be in central London....but here.........

The Clarendon Hotel | The Finest Hotel in Royal Greenwich, London | Home

Its directly facing Blackheath, and literally only a five minute stroll down to Blackheath railway station in the village. A 12 minute rail journey and you are in central London.
I dont know how their prices compare with everywhere else, but I would expect it to be more reasonable than a comparable central Hotel.
Plenty of parking as well - and not in the congestion zone.

Fox and Goose looks lovely but is booked - no idea what's going off in Ealing mid-November.

Clarenden also looks nice. Price is good too, comparable to the Crowne Plaza in Marlow with brekkie included for a double double.

Thanks a lot for the recommendations all. uch appreciated. With a journey like that (Scotland/London/back) with a 3 year old, I think it's best not to find we're accidentally booked in a flea pit!

I tend to go more by the reviews on Booking.com and LateRooms... to put a review on those sites you must have actually booked a stay at the hotel through them.

There's a Best Western in Harrow - I've used it a few times when visiting London with my then teenage daughter - it's very convenient for Stanmore and a straight tube journey into Central London, also only about 10 minutes from the M1.

I haven't stayed there for a few years, (she's now 22) but it was a fairly decent 3 star hotel when I stayed there. It's a town centre location (although it does have a decent car park) so there are plenty of places to eat out that are definitely family freindly and a multiplex cinema within 5 minutes walk.
