Fault Messages & Electrical Gremlins

Various faults are being reported by my car (CLK 500 W209) A few of these faults are real, some are intermittent, others where there doesn’t seem to be a problem, for example
·[FONT=&quot] [/FONT]Real faults – rear number plate light not working – which it isn’t – but at least simple to fix
·[FONT=&quot] [/FONT]Intermittent faults – yesterday the left hand dipped beam bulb and turn signal in right hand door mirror reported as not working (which they weren’t) but today both of these lights are working again
·[FONT=&quot] [/FONT]Non-existent faults - for a few days now I am getting from time to time ‘light sensor failed’ and ‘distronic not working’ reported – both of which seem to be working properly
Any advice / suggestions as to what might be causing this and how to fix it gratefully received

It sounds like you have some loose connection on the lights. The mirror indicator loom is a favereourite to break up causing int indicators.

The light sensor and distronic fault will need to be plugged into a star to see whats up.

Quick follow up on this

The battery in my car failed so bought & fitted a replacement battery - and things seemed to have settled down i.e. car not reporting the ‘light sensor failed’ and ‘distronic not working’ messages anymore - everything working fine!
