Stopped at the point the "test" consisted of hitting the car with a baseball bat.

yeah i've seen this "test". interesting but pretty pointless. iirc it was only done as their version of the top gear hilux test.

The thing is the old Hilux pickup top gear used for their "test" was a dead duck walking. That Mercedes estate looked like it had many more years under its belt. Nothing short of wilful damage. Criminal.

Thats why a lot of these mororing programmes are a total waste of time.

All they have proved here is how to take a perfectly decent car and totally wreck it.

There is nothing worthwile in this test apart from the driving test over the bumpy road and the suspension test.

The rest of it is utter rubbish !!!

I think it upsets people when they take a perfectly good car and wreck it, because they can, and there is some other poor bugger would have given their right arm to have had such a nice car

Seen it before, but was reminded of what a pointless piece of lazy TV that was. Not to mention distasteful, wasteful, and disrespectful of people who, like Malcolm said, would give a lot to own a decent motor like that.

IIRC one of the comments on the show was that the only thing to fall off after one of the tests was a chrome wheel arch cover. What they failed to mention was that this was an aftermarket item! I like to think that all cars with chrome wheel arch covers are trying to shake them off like a cat with a new flea collar

I said something very similar the last time this was posted on here. That car could have given someone on a tight budget many years of service.

I remember feeling heartbroken when they wrecked that Rover P6 in Lock, Stock and two smoking barrels.
