First drive of a V10 M5......

Peter the bhp and speed IMHO are not a factor at this level as both cars are way to fast to "rag" but the torque is used every day and a useable definer.

Also the 5 is a goner soon whilst the CLS will stay fresh a bit longer - that said Im still trawling through the Audi and MB pages of new RS6 and C63 like a school kid lol

my dads e60 m5 was troublesome... he left itto me when he passed i sold the piece of ****

They are two completely different cars aimed at people who want different things from them.

The 55 AMG is for those that want the power on tap, a ridiculously fast car that you don't have to work, a relaxing mile muncher.

The M5 is a typical M division high revving NA monster, you have to work it and because of that it rewards you in a way no forced induction performance car ever can.

I would take either, but what many see as the benefits of the 55 AMG I see as its downfall, and what I see as the main selling point for the M5 is what many on here obviously see as its downfall.

As a family wagon that I am doing 20k miles in I would take an E55 Estate, as a fun car that can also fit the family in I would take the M5 everytime.

The new S4 is nice, really nice and the best car Audi has built after the RS4, but I think the 335i does everything the S4 does but better.

An M5 is a very rewarding car to drive hard. Try the active seats before you buy, they move as you corner and I cant think of anything worse!

My friend towed his rally car all over the country behind a V10 M5 and now has the V10 Audi estate. The Audi is easier to drive and more torquey, but does without the satisfaction and it doesn't have the feel and feedback of the Bmw.
The Audi is finnished a bit nicer inside!
