Fitting a Parrot in a W210 E-Class Estate

Hi All,

I have a Parrot Bluetooth CK3000 (NOT the evolution) handsfree and want to fit it to my W210 (non-satnav). The Parrot instructions are not very clear HERE. I fitted one to an Audi with BOSE sound some years back and it was a bit of a pain so I am hoping that the Merc will be easier.

However that being said the Parrot comes with a 2 button control, green to pick up the call and red to drop it but to complicate matters I would rather use the buttons on the steering wheel if at all possible. Can anyone tell me the location and colour of the wires that connect to the buttons on the wheel please? Any help would be gratefully received.

Many thanks, Boggie

Aren't the steering wheel buttons connected through CAN-bus. Not so easy to use those.

According to the phone fitting chap I rang this afternoon the CANbus system only came in on the W211. He says there is an adapter you can get for the W210 that will allow the pick-up/drop buttons on the wheel to be used. Also he said that I will need some plug adapters to connect the speaker and power too. Any experiences?
Cheers.

You can buy an adapter so that the steering wheel buttons work for pick up and hang up - but actually I think phone technology has moved on and I just set my phone to auto answer, so after 2 rings it picks up automatically without having to touch anything and when you ring off it also hangs up automatically.

I think only if you are taking a lot of calls in the car or want to screen them and not accept certain calls is it worth bothering with.

Thanks Clegsr,
I need to screen calls, do you know where I can get the adapter?
Many thanks, Ian

This does not sound all correct. I once did install an MB original phone kit to a W210 (MY 2000). The phone PSE connects to the radio head unit via D2B fibre, the head unit connects to the car via a CAN bus which feeds the speed signal plus steering wheel control signals. There are adapter boxes that read this CAN bus signal and provide an output accordingly, this must be the adapter this chap was talking about.
