Hey guys,
After a month or so of dithering i have managed to get my alpine up and running to my car.
Well almost.. the problem i am having now is that i am having to turn the head unit on and off manually and not co-inciding with the ignition when i turn the car on and off.

I had to have the red and yellow wires in the plug bridged together to get this working with the merc initially and now this. The guy at my local halfords said it's fine because everytime i leave and get into the car i will be popping my face on and off. This is a bit of a pain for me as i often just leave the face on.

Does anyone know if i can purchase a plug or harness which i can get to replace my original one which will sort this problem out OR am i going to have to get my local car audio guy to sort this out for £40????
He said he will run a wire to the ignition...
I would much rather have a go at it myself!!
Any thoughts or help or anyone in the harrow area who is anygood at this would be appreciated.
Thanking in advance...

In a Mercedes swapping the Red and Yellow wires does the job really and if it was a genuine Alpine loom with no cuts and joins a simple plug swap fixes this. Are you sure you swapped them or bridged both together ?

Also evertime you detach the face and re-attach the face do all your sound settings get lost ?

See this thread, there is no switched feed in the W208, the CAN wakes up the standard radio which is permanent feed only.

If I understand correctly you now have permanent feed going through both red and yellow.

You need to run a switched feed from the cigar lighter (easiest place), it is straightforward if you are reasonably handy.

This is what I would do. I believe the cigarette lighter switched power wire should be pink/green.

By the way, how did you wire the radio lights? The OEM radio should get this control from the CAN bus too (depends on MY). The cigarette lighter light could be used for the radio too (gray wire).
