Hello, some of you may remember my retrofitting C43 xenons in to my C230k thread. Well I just found out that the "internal fog lamps" of the housing (the ones beneath the main beams) do not turn on even though I put the H1 bulbs.

Since the C43 was wired for foglamps in the bumper, the internal housing foglamps might have been disconnected? Is that the case? Is there a way that I can solder or make a connection to the switch again?

Thanks in advance for reading.

As you say the C43 bumpers have fog lights in them and therefore the foglamps in the headlight will not work. I think by default the H1 bulb is not fitted in the headlight if you have C43 bunpers.

The H1 bulbs were not in the housing, but I put them back on. I think there is a connection between the H1 Foglight mount and the headlamp assembly that is not connected. I'm just wondering where this connection is..

I used to have a pair of OEM Bekkers w202 Xenon units and the foglights worked fine on that...

Hi,
The fog lights in the headlights of a 43 are not wired up when the fog light loom is plugged in. The fog light power is bypassed from the headlight to the fog light by the loom.
You can change this so the headlight fogs are on as well as the bumper fogs, but with the correct size fuse (15A) in the circuit it will blow.
4x55W=220W,
12/220=18.3333 Amps for all 4 lamps to be on.
Though I know the battery voltage is hardly ever exactly 12V and will be more than this slightly on a normally operating electrical system, which will decrease the amount of Amps required, it will still blow, especially since you will be bound to have some amount of volt drop between the supply voltage and what the foglight lamp holders, through internal cable resistance etc.
I would be very reluctant to uprate the fuse unless I knew what the cabling and or switch/relay will carry.
I did think about fitting an H1 hid kit to one pair of the foglights, as these are only 35W ea. it would reduce the circuit load to exactly 180W load, which would be exactly 15A, and the fuse "should" hold, but these of course would be illegal but you might be ok in states with them.

hmm i might not have been clear in writing this...sorry for making it confusing.

I have a 1999 C230K. I took the Xenon headlamps off of a wreaked C43 and installed it in my car. The internal foglamps (the H1's) don't work.

I don't have a C43 bumper or fog lamps in the bumper so i don't think anything is bypassed, there's not fog lamp loom. When I pull out on the headlight switch to activate the foglamps, nothing happens...the H1's don't turn on even though i've installed a H1 bulb and plugged in the socket to it.
