Forged wheels

cut your losses, get full refund.

buy another set of wheels which are less complicated, less highly polished and therefore less likely to deteriorate.

I suspect you will in time, again have issues with the other wheels.

This man, despite having yellow seatbelts, talks sense. ;)

Polished wheels are shyate and will always fail. Like having a tart on your arm, may look good but they will not be with you for the long term.

Take the refund, sell the tyres to a C63 owner (they are the same size) or buy new wheels that can reuse them.

Buy a new set of painted wheels - get done decent OEM ones, don't p1ss about.

S

PS They can't guarantee Jack Squat - they guaranteed the refurb was up to factory finish!

Rash,

You'll be fine mate. Get something decent next time - BBS, RAYS, HRE.

Miss my Rays - had one of the first batch of RE30s in the country. So light, and absolutely exquisite quality.

Gutted for you Rashman, that refurbed wheel is shocking!!!!

I am also quite disappointed as I had been enquiring about a set of BC wheels for my C63. I shan't be looking any more and won't be dealing with projex either.

J.

Take the cash, else every single time you look at your car, you will be looking for defects in the other wheels.

Get your money back rash and stuff Projex mate!

Hey guys.

I've compiled a crystal clear email to James at Projex.

I had asked that the wheel is replaced with a brand new wheel.
I have also asked either BC or Projex guarantee that any issues that arise on any of the 4 wheels in the future will be addressed.

If BC or Projex cannot offer this, I have stated that I will proceed with their offer of a full refund.

I have not made this decision lightly.

Of course I don't want issues in the future.
But I have to consider things from different angles.
I have looked for alternative wheels and I just don't like any other wheels.
Seriously, I spent a couple of hours last night looking for something else.

I think my request from BC/ Projex is reasonable.
However, I also suspect that BC will not at all be willing to provide a new wheel.
So it may come down to Projex and whether they are willing to absorb the cost of a new wheel to retain business.

There is every chance that my request will be rejected meaning I'll be going down the refund route.

Another discovery I made last night , is that the bolts that BC used to rebuild the wheel they "fixed" are not the bolts that originally came with the wheel.
The bolts they have used are tarnished and dirty.
The bolts on the other 3 wheels are new and shiney.
I am extremely confused as to why they didn't re-use the bolts or install brand new replacement bolts.

James has apparently sent a strongly worded email to BC.
I am going to ask him to forward that email to me in a moment, so I can see exactly what is being communicated.

I don't want to be without wheel, out of pocket and heavy 4 tyres I can't use.

If this goes down the refund route, I will be asking James/ Projex to refund the cost of the tyres as a good will gesture considering the way I have been treated and the way this has all been handled.

However, before that, I am giving Projex/ BC once last opportunity o redeem themselves.

You have all sides covered Rash.

I think that is a very fair communication and if they are the only wheels you want then I can see why you are going down this route.

Trouble is I think you are a bit OCD like me (in a good way I mean :D ).. are you not always going to worry that the same problem with the finish will occur and then what if it does?

If it makes you feel any better I bought some 19" AMG IV splits for my SL and had them beautifully refurbed, but when I put them on the car I didn't like the way they looked with the SL (absolutely love the wheels, but not on my car :( ) so I then bought some new BBS CH-Rs which I do like very much on the car, but I didn't like the silly Motorsport logo near the hub so had them refinished to get rid of it ..... the refurbers thought I was mad refurbing brand new wheels, but there is no other wheel I like as much LOL!

See, it's not just you :D

Suppose I should sell the AMG IVs really! Hmmmm!

You have all sides covered Rash.

Yeah, I think I have, Peter.
I'll see what unfolds.

The way I have been treated by Projex has been really bad.
The way BC have handled this has been really bad.
I'm am very inclined to take the money and walk away.
But I am not unreasonable.
And I do want these wheels.

James at Projex has now put his hands up, apologised and says he now understands the issues I have with the wheel after seeing my pictures.
Although I did ask them to inspect the wheel thoroughly before sending them to me.

I'm more than happy to give people a chance to put things right.

This should have been a straight forward case of "Sorry sir, leave it to us, we'll sort this all out for you".
But unfortunately it was turned into a big song and dance.

It's in their hands now.

I'll keep you all updated.

I hear you bud.

This is why I am asking for a solid guarantee that the will deal with any issues that arise on all 4 wheels in the future. If this again means they bodge a fix, it'll be a another new wheel to me.

To be honest, I can't see them agreeing to my request so I am expecting to be getting a refund shortly.

These are my terms and I have made it quite clear.

Roger that and good luck :thumb:

Its a strange thing to say Rash and I feel really sorry for you but I think that out of all the people on the forum its probably best that this happened to you and not someone else.

As your shall we say "obsession / complex" ( ;) ) is well known in the public domain and if these wheels were bought by one of the more "performance / hard driving / max bhp boys" and the same problem happened would the sellers even be contemplating a refund - I dont think so ?????

I think it's best for both parties that simply you're refunded for the alloys, refunding the tyres is a bit more of a grey area though.

Yes, I don't think it is possible to look after wheels any better than I have with these :D
