Formula 1 2020 (Will Contain Race Day Spoilers)

.....what are we going to do with this thread until May?!!

I think we should do the responsible thing and close the thread until we can be sure it’s safe to all be together. Imagine all our computers & phones contracting the virus!

If there’s no GP’s until after the summer break I’m wondering if us Sky Sports F1 subscribers will get a refund??? :dk:
Let's just polish my crystal ball for a moment...

Yup, the fog's clearing... and... the answer is....

A big, fat, NO :p

And I suspect that those of us, like me, who subscribe to BT Sport for the MotoGP and football would get the same response from BT!

It's a shame that the 1st race of the season isn't happening, although I can understand why. The FIA really need to shoulder this as they could have prevented many fans from travelling from X,Y,Z. Demonstrating that they run the organisation like this will do them a lot of damage and lot of businesses will feel the impact and may never recover from this decision, that could have been decided before the event.

Hopefully we'll come up with something... :)

How about some donuts on top of the Burj Al Arab, a spot of down hill Skiing, Rugby scrums, a bit of sightseeing and a pit stop with zero gravity?

I think it had to be a joint decision by all of the stakeholders. Had the FIA (or any of the others) made a unilateral decision to cancel the event(s), the lawyers would have had a field day. But you're right there does need to be more clarity on the governance of F1.

I'm struck with a statement that COVID-19 may be with us forever - just as common flu is.

It's here. It's estabished. It's not going away. The maths mean that the most vulnerable people right now are old. Once it takes them the others are left with immunity and new generations will get it younger and get immunity before they reach old age. That's what we now exprience 'flu.

Anyway, rather than get into that here - there's already two threads running - what are we going to do with this thread until May?!!

.... lament
.... get nostalgic
.... pontificate
.... rant

.... persuade @Mactech and other members with a motorsport background to further regale us of their career highlights (and lowlights ?)

What was a bit disconcerting was reading that, as far as Covid19 is concerned, "old" starts at 55, not 70+, so even more of a worry! I'm 13 months from 70 and have COPD, wife is 3 months from 70 and has just been told she also had COPD - we're not going out much these days!!

Hope Machtech et al take up your suggestion Dryce!

When I asked the question, I nearly followed it with yelling MACTECH!

Well, despite being a vulnerable OAP, I'll put some tales together to keep us amused until the racing starts again.
That's if I can fit it in between developing a new paddle shift 6 speed gearbox for the XJ220 and trying to catch Mr Brundle for some more motorcycling now he has some time off....as if!:)

Tell us about the paddle shift box for the XJ220!

Looks like I’ve got a holiday to cancel:(
Wouldn't it be better to wait until 'they' cancel the event, wouldn't you then be covered on your travel insurance?

Waiting and watching at the moment.
GP was part of a 7 day holiday to Spain.
In time there is a possibility of a refund from the organiser, travel insurance claim or credit card claim.

Bottom line is we would prefer to go if that option is open.
