Formula 1 2022 (Will Contain Spoilers)

Someone remind me of when Ferrari were caught red handed fiddling the FIA fuel meter thingybob (tech term) , I admit to not following any of it very closely but from what I remember the punishment was to be kicked out of F1.

It did not happen because Ferrari were F1 in many peoples eyes. I cant see much of anything happening to RB on this occasion.

I might have got the Ferrari fuel thing wrong , but someone on here will know.

Yes, Ferrari were let off the hook because, whilst the FIA were fairly sure they knew what Ferrari were doing to circumnavigate the fuel flow meter readings, they couldn't actually prove it. Oddly, Ferrari's performance took an almighty dip once they knew the FIA were looking closely at them....
I believe this was the first recorded 'cheat' in the digital domain as there was nothing wrong 'physically' with the car. The FIA has since bolstered up it's IT department.

In the case of the recently released team audit figures, I suggest that would be prove positive unless the FIA don't believe their own figures or the teams can prove they have given the FIA incorrect figures.

Not me.

And while you're sat in your glass house, you may like to conduct a little research in to Ferrari's "rule bending", and why the FIA became known as "Ferrari International Assistance". ;)

Just sayin'...
Where did I say "rule bending' is acceptable? Please don’t misquote me.

I am simply bemused at the reaction of the RB haters.

More than once and with tyheimplication that there is an issue in the forum.
Nope I never “imply" anything. Perhaps you are reading something into my statements that is not there. What issue?

What I am saying, is that I believe that there are LH & Mercedes supporters (& no one in particular) that would look the other way if MB broke / bent the rules or if LH was driving for RB and winning.

I don’t like cheating of any form and yes Ferrari have done it but, I doubt that there is a team on the grid that has not tried to get away with something.

However while I enjoy sport of all forms I don’t live for it and these matters do not keep me awake at night.

10 times the over spend as a financial penalty and a reduction in constructor and driver points at 10 times the full percentage points of over spend. That will seriously deter other teams, especially those that can afford it, seeing the overspend penalties as a tax and ignore it to gain a competitive advantage. If it doesn't hurt as a penalty then the penalty is pointless.

Sadly I think the FIA will fudge it and as a result it will do the worst thing for the sport which is drive away even more supporters than the Abu Dhabi mess did. I am really at the point of giving up following the sport because it seems incapable of managing itself fairly and consistently.

I simply find the indignant outrage interesting when RB is deemed to have done something “wrong” but if it had been MB most would have kept stumm.

Completely untested so speculation is all you have.
MB have not been found cheating and LH does not drive for cheating RB.

..........because it seems incapable of managing itself fairly and consistently.
Is there any sport that does?

What FIA needs to do is be very specific about what penalties apply to various infringements so that it leaves nobody in doubt that they are doing their job fairly.

Until then, we are alway going to have supporters of the “other team” crying foul.

..........

Two wrongs etc.
You have misunderstood me.

Who said it was right or ok because it is happening in other sports?

I watch a lot of sport and find it incredibly frustrating at times but, if I took your attitude, there would be no sport for me to watch.

Cheating in F1 has a rich history. But financial cheating is a new game in F1 and has only just started.
Have a look here at some of the 'best' or most despicable cheats that have been rumbled so far:

Well the Team Principle's Press Conference was interesting, should have made some popcorn before hand 😂
Horner bringing mental health and bullying into it was a low blow, blaming others for tarnishing the brand when they themselves have done that. Regardless of the figure, it was an overspend but we will probably never know the figure. More of a joke has been the FIA, they have all the facts but want to offer RB a 'deal' or choice of punishment (from what I've read'. I can bet that certain parts the cost cap rules and punishments are going to be re-written for next year. I think the FIA have now dug another hole as they need to punish RB appropriately but that could mean deducting points. However, with the drama from last year and how close the WDC was, they don't want to affect the championship. But, this then could mean a fine which other teams would be happy to take for a 'up to 5% breach'.

Back to this weekend, I thought Mercedes would have been a bit closer in Qualy, although the temperature and wind seemed to play a part. The car does seem better and the upgrades positive. I'm not sure if they tested the new 'controversial' front wing and if it was any better.

If 5% is an acceptable amount of variance then I’m going to field 12 players in the second half of all my football games

After all, that’ll be ok when I win the league, cups and champions league - won’t it ?

Sometimes it's difficult to tell if Horner is simply "playing the game" or whether he does actually have a persecution complex.

I wish someone would just come out and call him a cheat the big fairy that he is.

Why are people afraid to speak the truth in 2022.

Call him out on it. Then on the other hand how much gets sensored in the back ground by the FIA. Zak Brown probably been told to zip it

Respect to Fernando Alonso. He sounded genuinely shaken after the incident with Lance Stroll - but still came back to get points out of the race.

I see Brad Pitt was in the Pitts watching the race, gaining more insight for an up coming movie.
The race was in Austin, but if they had presented what happened yesterday as a script of a movie, people would have accused it of being just Hollywood sensationalism and much too far fetched.
The oldest guy in the race climbs over the back of another car, pulls a 200M wheelie at 200mph, is cleared for take off by the local airport, clouts the barriers in a sea of debris, then goes on to score points!
Another former champion has more changes of position on the last lap than he's had all season, then claims the spot on the very last corner of the race.
I'm sure I could hear the Jaws theme playing in the later stages of the race....Oh! and. the race for the win was pretty good too!
Hollywood? No that actually happened. You couldn't make it up!

I won't even mention the off track soap opera....

It was on catering 🤥
You mean the budget for catering they tried to move out so they could spend that amount on upgrades - still amounts to an overspend/cheating. They failed the 11th Commandment
