Found some great W203 Mods

If one fitted that lovely cluster -- would the mileage be back to zero or can the present mileage he added?
Would all the cluster mods work in my W203 (i.e. folding mirrors, no kph showing until requested, tyre deflation warning etc?)

And the Comand / telephone I assume there isnt any problem with that either?

I do like that cluster .......LOTS

When I first seen it that was my first thought, hence my earlier post.

Andy
Sorry, I don't know how but I missed this thread.

Thanks for the post Andy! I was aware of Sunil's car. It is awesome. I actually once bought a clk cluster but it never arrived, however, after talking to my local expert Steve I was a bit relieved as compatibility issues are a problem. The new cluster needs programmed to the car but some don't take to being reprogrammed and end up with zero miles.

The trouble with modding at Sunil's level is you sometimes get it wrong or have to bin perfectly good parts as they can't be made to work for you. I wimped out on the cluster and I do quite like my Avantgarde one.

Anyway now my brakes are done, I'm on my next project......

Problem with the cluster mod is that it's apparantly easy to trash the mileage on your current car. I have understood on good authority (Sunil & Steve MBenzNL) that you need a brand new cluster, or one with less than 30 miles (or was it KM?) and a specific level within STAR to be able to recode it to match your original mileage.

Mercedes, like many other cars store the current mileage in other locations (such as the rear SAM on the W203 IIRC). If this record doesn't match the cluster the mileage gets scrambled. I believe this causes the mileage display to show --------- or ###########

I'd be keen to have the CLK cluster but I don't want to bin perfectly good parts or end up with screwed up mileage. As it's apparently tricky on 2001-2003 cars (& if people like Sunil & Steve say that) I'd be inclined to walk away in my case!
